That's not really an 1851 with its round barrel, but its close enough for me. But, if any member objects, well, no membership.

So, who here went looking for specific BP revolver and ended up with something different?

Here is my Colt '51 Navy with the conversion cylinder installed, I had to send the revolver to Howell Old West Conversions to have it fitted. They were great people to work with. By its serial number this Colt was made in 1976. I think its better than the 'Man with no name' revolver I was...

Using a Uberti 1873 SAA grip on a 1860 Army? Yes or No?

Look over at all the options they give you for the Uberti 1860. natural ivory, aged ivory, extra aged ivory, pearl, grey pearl, antiqued pearl, all sorts of stuff.

All right!! :) Even though it does take a lot of pressure to set off that cap I see your point. If you're going to shoot a lot I would suggest aftermarket nipples. They will tell you exactly what cap to buy. I always buy them and I have no problems seating caps.

See I never use a capper but I don't think they can apply very much downward pressure that is needed to seat the cap. I use my thumb or finger to apply downward pressure but if I'm getting too much resistance I'll go to a sliver of wood or a stick or my pick to seat the cap. Here is some good...

Try the #10 caps see if the seat better. The cap should seat on top of the nipple with slight pressure but sometimes I have to take a wood peg or my pick and push them down on top of the nipple. The cap should bottom out on the top of the cone.

You have the wrong sized caps. I have TOTW hardened steel aftermarket nipples that call for #11 caps, both CCI and Remington will work, and they fit perfectly. They won't fall off no matter how I jostle around my revolver.

You have to remove the cylinder to load it. I told them that they need to adapt their cylinder to the revolver because I don't want that Colt touched. She said OK and said they won't touch the revolver. I'll get a picture up as soon as the snow melts enough I can open the shed.

So, who here went looking for specific BP revolver and ended up with something different?

I don't know but it looks kind of like a wedge to me. I had an old 1861 Navy revolver I bought back in '82 and its wedge was worn and slide in as easily as that one did. On my 1860 Army repro its wedge slides in real easy also.

So, who here went looking for specific BP revolver and ended up with something different?

Exact opposite. Went looking for a 'Man with no name' revolver and ended up buying this, Complete with a conversion cylinder. But since its a Colt the conversion cylinder had to be recut and fitted by Old Howell's.

Definitely, they wanted that long range and very accurate rifle and their life in the field was wrapped around taking care of that long range and very accurate rifle.
