    Check out "The Best Shotguns ever Made in America" by Micahel McIntosh published 1981. Very in formative about Dan Lefever and others of New York's gun makers L.C. Smith,Ithaca guns,Lefever,Fulton Arms,Remington arms and a few others.

    The 308 and 7/08 both have to much recoil for my damaged spine. I had forgotten about the 250 Savage. That would be an excellent choice.

    Thinking about building a light weight(under 7 1/2lbs with scope) rifle and am torn between the readily available 243Win and the 6.5x47 Lapua. Any thoughts?

    MCA guage to rifle barrel inserts

    I ran accross their web page and found that they make shotgun to pistol/rifle cartridge barrel inserts. And it got me thinking a pair of their 18" 45-70 inserts in a double barrel 12ga. could make for a "poor mans" double rifle. Any expierences or thoughts on such. I am looking at buying a SxS...
