One of a kind Taurus on GB

Had one of their ultralight .44magnums come in this way years ago. The nub isn't rifled, and isn't even part of the barrel itself, but the outer sleeve.

Most embarrassing moments at the range

Didn't happen at the range itself, but on the way home. I was conceal carrying one of my range toys. "Concealed" because it was a 5 inch 1911 double stack riding in a high and tight with a baggy shirt thrown over it. I'm sure I was printing like mad, but it was supposed to only be for the...

    Laser bore sighter

Laser boresights come in 2 varieties. The kind that cost two hundred dollars and work pretty good, and the kind that don't.

    LCP vs LCP II

I very nearly bought an LCPII for pocket carry about a year ago, but for the way I wanted to carry it (loose in a cargo pocket) the light trigger actually worried me a lot. I wound up skipping it and getting an LCP instead and feel a lot more confident with it. This is coming from someone who...

    Rock Island Armory .38?

I love 'em. Rock Island cheaped out like hell on the guns, but only in the places that don't matter for function. Garbage parkerized finish, cheap stamped plywood and moulded plastic grips, squared edges with hardly a bevel in sight. U.G.L.Y these guns ain't got no alibi! But they...

    Soon to be obsolete rounds?

From the insider perspective I have to agree. My store no longer carries handguns in .40S&W, and worse is I haven't even been asked for one in half a year or better. We have the ammo, but it rots on the shelf. I have unironically sold more .32s (Charter Undercoverettes) in the past 6 months...

    Ammo amount

The Feds proposed, back in '95, a "Federal Arsenal License" that they'd make you get if you wanted to have 10,000 or more rounds in your possession. It didn't go anywhere, but its something that crosses their tiny minds from time to time.

    Soon to be obsolete rounds?

As an FFL its nice to know you think so highly of us. I have a batch of 9mm on my shelf retailing for .49 cents per round that I paid, from the factory, .44 cents a round. Us little guys don't have the liquidity to invest in oodles of ammo to crate up in back in case the supply lines turn...

I blame you lot for this

I heard the total production of Kansas H&Rs was only 300 units, but they're still cheap as all heck for some reason. I love the fact that it's a topbreak that ejects manually - great function but with less parts to break!

I blame you lot for this

I was out of the revolver game for a few years until I came back here to post about my S&W 16 project gun, and now the damned things are multiplying like rabbits. I was thinking about a Colt and y'all talked me into it. Well here's the next two. A pretty little H&R 926 .22lr in nickel, the...

    Your experience with .327 magnum?

People tell you a .32H&R is underpowered, but let me tell you a tale. One day my old mentor and I were out on a turkey hunt. He's packing his old side by side and his K32. We're both tired and hungry and haven't seen a bird yet when out at about 3 hunnderd yards steps the most beautiful ten...

For Veterans Day weekend - some thoughts on the citizen army and the 'three percenters'

I believe the number refers not just to everyone who served, but to those who saw actual combat. What we'd call tip of the spear today.

    Ideas that should be explored

A flintlock rifle with a break action and a removable chamber, designed to seat modern bullets and use either black or smokeless powder. No need for primers, use any kind of slower powder, and shoot soft-cast spitzer bullets of any grain weight appropriate to the chosen twist. The removable...

Starting part-time job at gun shop & range for the first time…

Man I wish more customers would follow this rule. Yeah dude I bet you're a heck of a pistoleer. Joebob's Tactical Destroyer course, you say? Seven times? Wow. By the way you're crushing the takedown lever - the slide release is the one in the middle. :p
