    New to shotguns, which one?

Probably the best Rem 870 Wingmaster, 28" barrel, Rem chokes and Ilike a vent rib.

model 12 win, is it a tournament grade?

Good looking gun...hang on to it. I bought a Mod 12 in the early 70's, 30" full, nickel steel barrel. The serial # was 606---. It was in the rack of used guns at sporting goods store, handeled it, loved it...asked the price, owner said same as a new one $69.95. I didn't even hand it back to...

    Pattern Board

The value of a pattern board comes up often and we know that it is important. The best pattern board that I've seen was a piece of 4' X 4' 3/16 or 1/4 steel mounted in a 2 X 4 frame. It had a 30" circle painted along with a bullseye in the middle. They kept a bucket of dirt, a jug of water...

Clay shooting : choosing my first gun - Suggestions?

Clays Don't rule out a quality pump such as a Browning BPS or a Remington 870 Wingmaster. I would suggest 28" vent rib barrel with chokes in 12 ga. I would also suggest an Accuriser (sp) to increase the comb height for trap. Don't forget ear protection. Then shoot, shoot, shoot. One of the...

first trap shoot with a 1187 wednesday

1100 trap I have a very nice 1100 trap that I shot a lot...used a device that looked like a fork that went in the bolt in place of the operating handle. It caught singles everytime. The guys next to me would frown when they saw the auto but got over it when I wasn't bouncing hulls off of...

    Cheek weld?

cheek weld or spot weld. It is very important on a shotgun and a rifle...the recoil on higher calibers or gauges will give you a fat lip if your cheek is not down well on the stock I would suggest an aftermarket cheek piece.

    Remington 742 Stock Question

I have tried to find, with no luck, the original drop at the comb. I have a restoration project on my Dad's rifle which he altered to shoot right handed but sight with his left eye. I need to know the drop at the comb in order to put back like it came from the factory. Any help would very...

What is the average life expectancy of an 870 round wise

870 rounds. I will almost bet that no one knows. Most 870's are handed down to son/daughter and then to grandkids. :-)

    Lightest recoil Semi-auto shotgun

Recoil Mcgunner and oneounceload are right about fit being most important for comfort in shooting and I would add design. The lower the barrel sits in the receiver, the less effect of recoil. The thrust of recoil on a barrel or the barrels in OU that set lower in the receiver will be more in...

    Remington sportsman 58?

58 vs. 1100 I have a 58 in very good condition and a 1100 trap. If I was looking to buy I would probably go with the 1100. The 58 has a better balance and I love shooting it. The 1100 is barrel heavy compared to the 58. Parts , barrels, etc. much more available for the 1100.

    Which .22lr Lever

I've owned a BL-22 for over 30 years and I love it...looks, feel, reliable, accuracy, etc. Wish it was made in the U.S. or Belgium. Glad its not made in China!

Does barrel length really make a difference for clay shooting?

barrel length What oneounceload said. A suggestion...trap guns have a slightly higher comb height that causes the gun to shoot high and gives a better sight picture for a rising going away target. There is a lace or slip on accessory (Accu Rise I think) that will slightly raise your comb...

    Remington 1100

1100 I have a 1100 trap with thousands of rounds through it and no prblems. Had a 20 ga. 1100 hunted quail for years and no problems. Take care of it and it should serve you well. If it is going to be your only shotgun for clays and deer you might look into a barrel with the rem chokes...
