Ballistic gelatin test results - Glock 27 (various .40S&W JHPs)

That CorBon seemed to mimic the .357 Magnum perfectly. It certainly would be my choice of the group tested. Nice test Dead

    your dream gun

After going back in a time machine, grabbing a M1911 blued Colt off the line, then jumping forward and scooping up a 1943 Colt M1911A1...how's that? Dead

Should My first 1911 be a full size 5'' or a commander?

    Government -- 45ACP deserves 5" barrels...:) Dead

    Springfield XD-45 vs. Springfield G.I-45

I don't know where to start here... First off, you don't need ANY of these frills on your 1911, and in some cases, they can make the reliable 1911 less reliable... Whenever you change a specification, some changes unless it is fitted and tuned by a good gunsmith. Tinkering just for the...

    5.7mm x 28

Leo/Swat/Military applications... Get something more practical, unless you just want to play and pay for high cost ammunition (the effective bullets -- S159??? -- aren't available to civilians -- not sure about the brass. I shot a few magazines while training LEO's -- I was completely...

    Glock 21 question

You can go both ways -- when I had a G21, the OWB carry was more comfortable, especially in a Tucker HF1 leather; kydex makes it a wide carry because of it's bulkier holster design. Snug leather always a plus for OWB carry of larger service weapons -- best carry for full-sized auto would be the...

    Hammer vs Striker

    Striker (XD/Glock/etc.) misfire = rack slide/clear/fire next round... Hammer (SA - 1911/CZ/etc,) misfire = recock hammer/try again/rack slide/clear/fire next round... DAO/DA-SA (Sig/M9/etc) misfire = trigger again/rack slide/clear/fire next round... Pick what you like -- I like the hammer...

:( Apples and oranges, my friend... What's better -- Toyota Tundra or Toyota Camry? Ford F-150 or Ford Taurus? BMW sedan or BMW two-wheeler? Dead

Recommended first things to do when getting my first pistol

Congratulations on the new handgun -- have fun and stay safe...:) I just want to add a comment, and I'm not trying to be a smart guy, but the thing you refer to as 'clips' are in correct terms magazines. Clips are what one uses to hold a series of rounds together that are then put into a...

    The Box O' Truth, 9mm's and .45's

The bullet and it's design defines the caliber performance, not the other way around. Let's take a look at the 'state - of - art' bullet, the Cor-Bon all copper Barnes DPX: 1) All DPX calibers are designed to penetrate 10-14" through various barrier from plain geletin, demin, plywood, and...

    Weight spring for Combat Commander?

HSmith: Heck, those 1911's of your are just getting started :) I agree with your use of the FPS, however, I replace so many of them for my customers that I never think much about those who might decide (and I cannot in my wildest understanding know why) to carry other than condition 1...

    Weight spring for Combat Commander?

I agree, HSmith, it would require a bit more to cycle on a down hammer, but the rewards with respect to recoil for the lighter Commander would be a more than adequate exchange, plus the frame wear from the hotter loads... I certainly can see your point, but for $12.00 a copy an 30 minutes...
