Thanks for the info. Just tried it. 50 years of old oil made it difficult to split apart but it came apart. I was just worried I was doing something wrong.

How do I take down this .22? I have loosened the screw on back of the receiver, now what.

My best feeling auto would be my S&W 4596 followed closely by my S&W 5906. Sig 226 would be a close third.:)

In what years did Winchester use a flat barrel band on there model 94's? I have noticed on auction sites it appears to be around 1948 but they seem few and far between.

Thanks for the info. I just got off the phone with a person who owns 10 pre 64's. He basicly said the same thing. He stated if it gets wet just douch it out with wd-40 and dry the best you can. If it gets gummed up real bad clean it out with brake cleaner but reoil when dry.

It is most likely the Performance Center model that came out a few years back. If it is, it should have a 3" compensated barrel and I believe it was a 7 shot. I saw one in my neck of the woods a month ago, also a 3" PC M-19. Opted for the M-19.

S&W Performance Center M-19 ? Any body have any thoughts good or bad on this particular model? When and how many where made ? Thanks

I have a Smolt, Smython. A pinned and recessed S&W model 19 frame with a Colt Python barrel. Best and most accurate revolver I own. Would never think of selling it unless I was given stupid money for it. If you like the Ruger action have one built, you won't regret it.

I was thinking of starting to use a dry lub on my handguns. It basicly dries to the touch and I am thinking it may be easier to clean after a long day of shooting lead with W-231 powder. What do you think?

Never really interested in S&W semi's until now. I am looking at a 5906 and 4596 at the shop. Both are in excellent shape with 2 mags each. Hi caps for the 5906 and 8 rounders for the 4596. Both pieces together $800.00 out the door. Would that be fair? Also would these semi's be as reliable and...

The S&W 4596 was a one time production run for Lew Horton. It is a .45 ACP built on the 4506-1 frame, and fitted with a 4516-1 slide; with Novak low mount fixed sights, and 1st triggerguard. The book says that an approximate total of 382 units were produced in 1990, with a 3.75" barrel...

Anybody own or shoot a 4596? I would like to know if they are a good shooter, being a full frame with a compact slide.
