Inexpensive single-shot .22 rifles for kids

Schleprok62, I appreciate the post on the Remington. Ironically, I rarely see any youth single shots for sale anywhere. Anyone have luck finding the Remington or Savage Cub?

    the .327mag. round

Agree with Marvin. I've wasted my time with wildcat cartridges, but after 100 rounds of shooting at a 50% premium, have turned them in. .38 +P is ubiquitous and cheaper. Get the SP-101 in .357.

What is the best round for up to 800 yd shooting?

.300 Winchester Magnum or a the short-action variant .300 WSM. Flatter shooting, more energy. Regardless, get a great piece of glass and learn how to use it.

Ruger SP101: A Thousand Shots Later...

I was surprised. No trigger job on the SP101 besides a bit of sanding?

    Can a Mini-14 safely eat 5.56mm?

My Mini consumes both just fine. Accuracy deltas with different weight of bullets for sure, but they all go downrange.

    What should I get?

All good choices (.22, .357, .38, AK), except the High Point Carbine. Waste of cash. Get the Beretta CX4 Storm instead. Go for quality and good value whenever possible. One point I will say. In your marriage manage your money to get the best value. Saving for a couple extra months or...

Does anybody hide a new gun purchase to your wife/gf??

Nope. She loves me and we keep it above board. It's a bit Quid Pro Quo. I get a gun, she gets some jewelry. I treat her right.

GSG-5 coming. Also known as MP5 in .22LR

The GSG-5 looks like a lot of fun, but it's over-priced to the tune of $250 or so if they want it to be a hit.

    Survival Rifle in Colorado

Stubicatt, with a population of 1,700 Elk around Estes Park, the herd will get thin quick. A hungry population will resort to what's available. Hey, in South New Jersey, the eat Muskrats. I kid you not. A .308 auto-loader and a .22 pistol on the hip is ideal for this blessed state.

    Survival Rifle in Colorado

Anything in .308 is ideal. Springfield M-1A, FAL, etc. is the ticket. The distances are very long here in our state. Much of the game (Elk, etc.) are larger animals. .308 is an excellent compromise round because of it's stopping power, general availability and decent trajectory. Of...

    Favorite .22 LR rifle?

Yes, Mp7, diesen PPS-50 gewher is sehr schoen. It had everything going for it. Looks, a military je ne sais quoi, accuracy, craftmanship. Sadly, they fetch up to $800 US and have become true collector's items when the intent was to create a line of nicely made "fun guns". The original...

Whats the "Best" 7.62x39 semi auto rifle besides the AK47?

Well, Click Click Boom, when you statistically factor what's best, you put a weighting on several factors. With guns these factors include: Accuracy, performance, quality, availability of weapon, availability of parts, cost basis for ammunition and yes price to come up with the determining...
