    Affordable .357 Magnum rifle?

I have a "trio" for both home & truck. I agree, the Rossi lever in 357 is a great rifle. I can keep all ten shots inside an 8" paper plate. I have a Rossi 357 SRC lever in stainless, my S&W 686 4" barrel (stainless) for close distance, & a S&W 360 M&P 357 (scadium & stainless cylinder) as...

    CMMG vs. Rock River 308

I have owned several RRA rifles & that be my choice. They have always made a quality AR. Just my .02

    25-06 vs 7mm-08

Since your talking about the 25-06 or a 7-08 I don't see why you don't go with a 270 Winny. Flat shooter, various bullet weights for different game & you can get ammo anywhere cheap for it. Reloading it will give you the customize touch. The BC on these bullets are great & can almost (within...

    Rossi

I have a Hartford EMF SRC (has rossi on tang underneath) 357 mag in stainless. It has a beautiful dark walnut stock & a 20" round barrel. It shoots great keeping all 10 rounds in a paper plate @ 100 yards. I love that little bugger & would not give her up for anything. It goes with my combo of a...

    .357mag Lever gun Applications

I hae a Hartford EMF (puma) stainless lever in 357 mag. That along with my S&W 686 w/4" barrel then a S&W 360 M&P for a backup lets me carry 38/357 ammo that I can use inevery gun for any close situations. This is my truck/camping/survival I would use even hiking the trails. This group is a...

what age should I teach gun safety?

I agree with Sam 100% on All his points about guns & the family. My boys were taught when they were young, at 5 & 3. Took them out to shoot, showed them all safety issues with firearms, then I shot the pistol showing them what happens to a soda bottle (plastic) with water when hit with a bullet...

    muzzle brake suggestions

I have a SEI USCG muzzle brake on my M1A with an 18.5" barrel. Does a great job of keeping the muzzle down for follow-up shots.

    Tell me about the 5.45x39.

I believe the Russians are still using the round in their current rifle.

Another "best" rifle for everything thread

Older Remngton 700 in 270 Win would suit you all around. Large ammo selection, find ammo in any store, flat trajectory, lighter recoil then a '06, what more could you want. I have a 270 that hits everything I point it at. JMO

Where to buy rossi 357 lever gun?

I have a Hartford in stainless with a 20" barrel & saddle ring. Handy little rifle. I carry this with my S&W 4" 686 & my S&W 360 M&P when hiking or out in the woods. Great truck guns combo. Here's a few listings: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=254900412...

    AR-15 Help?

Quote from benEzra For a first AR, a 16" midlength flattop is a good all-around gun. If you are primarily looking for a longer-range target or varmint hunting gun, you'd probably want a longer, heavier barrel, but the 16" is nice for general use (IMO). As to manufacturers, I think Bravo...

    Arsenal SGL question

I own both a SLG-96 (7.62) & a SLR-105R AK-74 (5.45 with Styer hammer forged barrel) from Arsenal. Both are great guns & fun to shoot. The SLG-96 is a milled reciever while the AK-74 is stamped. Ammo is cheaper for the AK-74 but count on cleaning the rifle everytime you use it. The ammo that's...

    why 270 winchester?

270 win with a 130 gr. Balistic point BT (nosler) with a 26" barrel (my Remington Sendero) has a muzzle velocity of just over 3000 (3024 to be exact) with factory loads. That puts it in the "magnum" range. You can reload heavier bullets for bigger game (180 gr.) & lighter ones (65 gr.) for...

    Bought a M1A

"Quick question... What is the difference between the match m1a and a basic m1a" Standard is more like GI issue with no frills. Match has mid weight heavy barrel & a trigger with work done to it to smooth it out & is 2 staged. Supermatch has a heavy barrel, national match sights...

What will my lever gun like to eat the best?

I have a EMF Hartford '92 in all stainless. What a beautiful gun. 357 ammo feeds fine but the shorter 38 can cause cycling problems with certain ammo. 158 round nose 38's feed good but the you'll catch the next round sometimes with the short rounds. If you reload then you just seat the bullet...
