How can you check the history of a gun?

FFL's do not have the ability to trace firearms. Contact the ATF and see if they can help you, and they may not have the time or the information to help.

Poll regarding age and guns and rights.

http://www.dartmouth.edu/~news/releases/2006/02/06.html There seems to be some research that suggests that the human brain doesn't fully develop until the mid-twenties. And based on things I used to do from 16-24 I would tend to agree with the research. ;) And I voted no.

    Transfering/Buying a rifle from a friend question!

If your friend is a resident of NY and you are a resident of NJ, the only way you can legally get the rifle is to transfer it through an FFL in NJ. There is another legal way but that involves a will and the owner dying, you don't want to go that route:D.

    Fun with UPS

Very good info here. I always ship usps when I can. I also live in rural area, so I know all the employees at my local Post Office. They usually ask me for my form 1508 whenever I hand them a box that isn't a firearm, and I thank them for reminding me but tell them it's not a firearm...

    Is this possible?

Gang members need to become more adept at catching bullets. We should help them in their training every chance we get. :D As far as removing the slide on a glock, attempting this should help their bullet catching abilities immensely.

FFL's and parents buying for kids

There is nothing wrong with a parent buying a firearm for their child to use. The parent is the rightful owner of the firearm, and allows their child to use the firearm for hunting or training purposes. Once the child is old enough to own the firearm legally the parent can give it to the child...

Getting Grandparents' Guns from ME to NY

You would have to go with the owner of the firearm to the FFL in Maine or have it delivered to the FFL with a copy of the owners ID. Check with the FFL in Maine.

Getting Grandparents' Guns from ME to NY

It would have to be a will or intestate succession for that to be legal. http://codes.lp.findlaw.com/uscode/18/I/44/922 look at 3 and 5

Getting Grandparents' Guns from ME to NY

Since it is an out of state transaction you will have to go through an FFL. The Long guns (as long as they are legal in NY) can be transfered to you in Maine through a local FFL (make sure they are willing to do it). If you cannot find an FFL in Maine willing to transfer the long guns to you...
