Whats a good entry level flintlock rifle?

I jumped into flinting with a 75cal brown bess. See thread below with pic. The lock has performed well...and the frizzen produces a nice shower of sparks. You can pick them up new for 500-600 from MIddlesex Trading Co up in NH. http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=489240 Doug

Hi All: I know this question ranks up there with mini-14 vs AR, and Mossy vs. 870, but I'm really on the fence here, and would appreciate your long term experience with either of these 1911's... I have been struggling over the Compact ES and the CDP II Ultra...any advise/suggestions to...

    Mossberg 500 20g for 13 yr old?

My 13 year old daughter did some skeet shooting for the first time a month ago. It was also her first time shooting a shotgun. She shot a 20ga pump Rem 870 with trap loads. She weighs about 100lbs, and handled it without issue. I shot it and it had about the same kick as my...

What I did over while the turkey roasted...

Cheers Arcticap. I was whisking the pan about every other shot... I guess having a rag-at-the-ready for wiping the flint/friz is standard. We also shot some skeet later that day, and I really wanted to try the Bess with some #8 shot, but that will have to wait for another day...

Pedersoli - .72 Cal Brown Bess - Powder?

Hi All: Sorry if this is a silly question (still on the VERY steep part of the learning curve)...but I've been trying to get a feel of which powder, and how much, is commonly used in a .72cal BB. Some people say they run 2F in the barrel, and 4F in the pan. Other say 3F is fine for both...
