I would start out with pistols calibers first. Little to no trimming at all. 380 and 9 is less forgiving IMO. I would do 45 first. My reasoning is that 380,9 and 40 are smaller cases and can build over pressure with a deeper seated bullet faster than with say 45 acp. Always start low on...
No contact from Labradar. Website not updated about shipping. Not looking good. I have read other threads but not getting updated information. Just wanted to try again. Mounting was not for me with Magnetospreed but maybe I got lucky. Like the idea of the Labrador, but I am thinking there...
I have a Caldwell Chronograph and love it for handgun rounds. I need to chrono rifle rounds and I really don't want to shoot it. So I am getting ready to buy another chronograph and looking really hard at the Magnetospeed. I have used one and really like it. I have read it doesn't change the...
Each has there own data. Their powder, their gun, etc. Hornady book has a very low range for their 178 bthp with varget. This is why we start low and test. We make ladder loads and chrono them. With my gun. my powder, my primer, I found Hornady to be way off. Hodgdon to be better load than...
You need to load what works in you gun. OAL in the book is a guide and also max OAL. I load my 9mm @ 1.065. I didn't just choose that OAL, I tested and Chrono to get there. Each powder and powder charge will be a little different. I use Titegroup and CFE, Titegroup is a lighter recoil than...
I never like to look in the cabinet and see a few rounds. I don't have much purchase rounds other than 22s. But I keep plenty of 9mm and 45 acp on hand. I also keep enough powder, primers and bullets on hand to keep me shooting through any scare.
I buy the Hodgdon reloading Magazine every year. They have the new powders they add every year and some great reading. But one Magazine or one book is not enough. I always cross reference with others. Never can have too much data!
I have the T-7 and I love it. I use it for 308 mainly. I am one that does a lot of research and then I buy once. Like Toprudder I have Dillon for pistol loading. I will load 1000 rounds in one sitting. But I do not recommend that for you. Now back you your question...Forster is a great...
I use a spreadsheet too. But I also use a DOPE Book and the loaded rounds has all the information in the storage box. It may be over doing it, but I am OCD about reloading. All pistol round test loads are log on spreadsheet. I do little different on Rifle rounds. I only log good loads with...
I have been doing a lot of testing. The only way you can know everything thing about the bullet is to chronograph it. Yes you can look at your load data and FPS for that data, but there are too many variables too be worth writing down anything other than your MOA. You will know if the round...
One book? No get as many as you can. Cross reference from more than one book. Just like one scale is not enough, one book is not enough. Good luck and be safe.
