    I did have one advantage--I learned to open a Scout knife with either hand in college in 1985 so Opinels were easy to open with 1 hand

    I pinch the blade with thumb and first finger, use the other 3 fingers to open it--it helps that I have big hands, a benefit of being a compact version of cousins that were football linesmen through college, another benefit is being one of the strongest in the grade is not being bullied after...

    I have not had a problem with my carbon steel Opinels rusting-- but I live in a Los Angeles suburb about 25 minutes from where Marineland used to be which became a Trump project although I have had the wood handles expand but they do hold an edge and are easy to keep sharp

    I have never been fast enough to run away but when I was younger I found out that there was an advantage to being a 5'7" version of cousins that played football--for some reason a very powerful 200 pound man can be somewhat intimidating

    being a veteran of the Army medical corp--I have no problem offending people, but then again I have been known to convince an attacking Doberman to back off--it helped that I was a 5'7" version of football linesman cousins with a very fast counterattack and a powerful stage baritone
