Is there any disadvantage to a shortened/youth stock on an 870 police set up for home defense? I don't have much shotgun experience, and would think the extra inch or so compactness would be nice. 18" barrel, no optics or anything like that. was looking at the speedfeed version, non-pistol grip...

I love mine. sure there are smaller weapons out there. ones that sit lower in the hand. ones that are cheaper. but the hk45 just seems well thought out with many of the details I find important. it's not a small weapon but it works well. cheers Derek

Are there any online resources for the complete disassembly of an 870 including changing the stock and fore-end? looking to add a speedfeed stock and was hoping there is something out there with pictures to follow. thanks in advance cheers Derek

Just picked up a slightly used 870 police, parkerized, 18" barrel and am looking for a mag extension-should I stick with a factory remington one, or are they made for remington by scattergun/choate/etc...? I guess the only way to obtain a remington/oem one is from a leo dealer? please advise...

I picked up one of these today at Larry's-$269, but it was the last parkerized one they had. has not been shot much, in great shape. they have 4 or 5 blued ones in very servicable shape. thanks for the heads up cheers Derek

I like buffalo bore 158 +P in my all steel 640 .38. I'm sure it would be more uncomfortable out of an airweight. cheers Derek

I like the alessi talon or apx for iwb carry. alessi and sparks also make good pocket holsters, as does kramer. mika makes a good pocket holster www.simplyrugged.com has some good solid basic designs cheers Derek

Alessi I like the alessi APX. it's an IWB, like the talon, however he puts the talon clip ahead of the revolver, so it does not add the bulk to the cylinder. Lou's stuff is top notch. cheers Derek

brownells now carries a product by KG Gunkote called SiteKote-it comes in white, orange or red. it stays on longer/brighter than nail polish or automotive touch up paint. good stuff cheers Derek

I have recently gone back to revolvers in a big way after mainly carrying semi autos. It has come down to ease of use. I have developed some arthritis in my hands that sometimes make handling a semi auto problematic (grasping the slide, malf clearing, etc...). This sucks at age 32. However...
