Of the XDs and Glocks that I've handled, I think that the XD triggers are much better, probably because the trigger pull does less work given that the firing pin starts closer to it's release point. The XDs don't stack (or crunch, in some cases) like the Glocks do right before they release.

um....
I might disagree with your math.
If:
y = the number of defensive gun uses a year
y * .08 = number of DGUs involving shooting
y * .08 * .03 = number of DGUs involving shooting and hits
y * .08 * .03 * .12 = number of DGUs involving shooting with fatal hits = 225...
Consistent Trigger Pulls?
I think Glocks are great weapons, and I hope I don't sound like an anal retentive idiot when I say I don't think they really have the same trigger pull for every shot. At least when I am at the range, I only release the trigger enough to reset for follow up shots...
The timing of this thread is kind of funny. Over lunch, I was in a local pawn shop and saw a guy try to buy a gun. It was a 16" Bushmaster with what I think was a muzzle brake (vent holes were only on the top half) and real collapsible stock. I'm not an AR-15 expert, but I was surprised by the...
While I was perusing the better local gun shop yesterday, I came upon a new Glock 38, which I didn't realize had been shipped yet. Evidently, it has been in the store for a while, and nobody has jumped on it. I did a quick search of G38 in this forum and didn't see much talk about them being...
Thanks...
Thanks all for the responses.
Walter Williams' line of thinking is new to me. I'd never really thought about the fact that most dollar bills will find their way back into the United States. I realize that can lead to a growth of foreign investment in American capital, which is...
A question in the Shotgun Forum about the high cost of Ruger Red Labels got me thinking.
Being on a very limited budget, I spend much more time reading posts here than I do shooting and have absorbed quite a bit of useful information. As I try to decide between a shotgun or semi-auto pistol...
Still watching
I'm still paying attention to this thread. I've been travelling for work, and haven't made any effort to contact the park ranger at Matsell Bridge. I might drive to Hardin County to meet some other shooters, but my wife won't. I also got the impression that eastern Iowa would...
Eastern Iowa
Panora is about 30 miles west of Des Moines, for those of you who don't use MapQuest.
Out of curiosity, I drove by the shooting range at Hawkeye Wilderness Area after work last night, and was kind of underwhelmed. There is a sign saying that the range is closed due to...
280PLUS: No cute women brandishing assault weapons?
I was aware that my wife's grandparents lived in Holland during WWII, and that they weren't happy with the Nazi occupation. Grandpa was a police officer who would on occassion drive for Winston Churchill, and Grandma was the daughter of the...
Iowa City
I live in Cedar Rapids, and thought that Matsell Bridge was the closest public range I could get to. Could someone post directions to the Hawkeye Wildlife Area range?
I know I don't post much, but I too would be interested in a shoot, even though my gun collection right now...
