How do I tell what choke my Franchi 48AL has?

I just D/L'ed the .pdf file OK. It's just a little under 1.8 mb. If you want me to e-mail it to you, I can do that, send a PM. Sounds like you have the brass friction ring, but you're missing the steel friction ring and governor. The governor is the device that really decides how much...

Pics of CZ's with glossy blue finish?

I like the blue, but I'd agree that the polycoat will hold up better for carry. My daughter and I are shooting a pair of SP-01 Tacticals at some of the action pistol shoots, and with 1,500 comp rounds behind each of them, the finish is holding up to the Blade Tech Kydex holsters OK so far.

135 grain .40 Federal brand any good?

The lighter bullets in the .40 S&W can be pretty snappy. The Federal load (#PD40HS4H) drives a 135 to 1,200 FPS. Generally speaking, bullets that are light for the caliber lose velocity quickly and do not penetrate as well as heavier, albeit slower, slugs. IOW, a 135 .40 S&W bullet is likely...

Best bet is to call Colt with it. They've been very helpful when I've called, and will tell you the date and configuration it left the factory.

    Cheap rifle ammo...

Agreed 100%. Cheaper than Dirt (but just as nasty) isn't cheaper than anyplace and they are higher than most other places for their ammo. For comparison shopping, this is a good interactive site: http://gun-deals.com/ammo

    forming 22-250 brass from .308?

The .22-250 is a necked down .250 Savage case, and both are shorter than a .308 Winchester. I've necked .308s to make .22-250s. The purpose was to provide a very thick neck which could be neck-turned in order to produce a fitted neck condition in a factory style chamber. The rifle was quite...

    Question for those with CHL/CWP's

I always joke with the guy taking my prints about how easy it is w/o the cuffs. :D After having my prints taken in the military 30 years ago, then later for a C-III device, it just doesn't matter.

Difference between shotgun and rifle scope

Rifle scopes are set to be parallax free at 100 to 150 yards. Shotgun scopes are set to be parallax free at 50 to 75 yards.

Ballistic charts vs. Real World results

IMHO, given sufficient power to work at all, when it comes to hunting, bullet placement is 90% of it, and the ability of the bullet to expand and reach the vitals is the rest of it. Far too many people DO get caught up in the minutia of a few hundred feet per second or a few foot pounds of...

    scope question

Good posts by JWarren! I would add these comments: 1) Internal adjustment range: The bare minimum adjustment range required of a long range scope will depend entirely upon *your rifle's* exterior ballistics. Rifles such as the .308 will typically require 38 to 44 MOA over the base 100 yard...
