From the only Saiga .308 I've handled, it just seems like an over simplified rifle and didn't shoot very accurately. Great price, great reliability, but if you're shooting anything past 100 yards in my experience this will not yield fabulous results.

I agree with wild. Kar98k has a better action than my Yugo M48. My Yugo can also outshoot the K98K anyday. You want a shooter, go Yugo M48/A. You want a safe queen, the K98K is my favorite. Well...true. However if you can get a good price on Mitchell Mausers, buy it! They are good...

Yes definitely the 12g slugs are plenty of stopping power for Alaskan Bear. I'd choose this. It's important however that if you go this route you buy a rear sight and a slug barrel. Your 12g slugs' effectiveness will be much better that way.

Marine Corps FAST platoons are comparable to that of Blackwater. My friend has trained a few times with them, and they all love the AR, including himself.

SoCal... 8mm is a joy to buy. Century Arms has $1.20 / 15rd boxes of bright and shiny Yugoslavian ammo from 1953. One case, which is 900 rds, was $85 including shipping. Came in a metal crate, with can opening steel string on the crate itself. Not only cheap, but GREAT stuff to shoot...
