    Giving in to Old Age

Thanks to all for your good wishes. I wish that my kids and all nephews/nieces were shooters. One nephew and grand nephew by marriage are...they got all my reloading gear/bench/brass/powder/primers/bullets and two rifles, the rest save one rifle at the end get sold. I did get a kick out of my...

    Giving in to Old Age

In the last two weeks, I have sold my gun safes, all but three of my long guns...all my hunting rifles, precision rifles, and my M1 Grand collection. I did keep a Rem 1100 with a slug bbl, SAI M1A, and a Ruger Mini-14 with minimal ammo for each. Unfortunately, my children, a doctor and Professor...

    Magazine pouch advice

I use Blade-Tech mag carriers, ordered direct from Blade-Tech. On a recent order I got 2 day delivery in WA. As to belts, I'd get a 1-1/2" stiff belt for holding my holster and mags. I use both nylon and leather Galco belts, ordered from Galco. Harry

    What about Beretta 92?

I have a 92FS (9mm) and a 96A1(.40 S&W). Fine and reliable pistols...I bet my life on them often. Harry

    Beretta 96A1. Gonna keep it

I have one and love it. Great shooter and a great round. Harry

I want to be "that guy" with one CCW weapon...

I am growing increasingly fond of my Glock 43X. I swapped the polymer mag release for a Shield steel release and use Shield 2.0 15-rd mags. With one spare in a mag pocket in my 5.11s, I've got 30 rounds in an eminently controllable handgun. I have two holsters for it...an IWB Blade-Tech for warm...

Does your carry rig change with the seasons?

Yes. In late fall and winter, when I wear a jacket, I go to a 5" 1911 Springfield TRP in either .45ACP or 10mm in a Galco vertical shoulder holster with two spare mags. The nice part of the Galco vertical SH is that, since it hooks to my belt, it keeps my pants up rather than pulling them down...

    Show off your Scout Rifle

Mine is an M1A Scout Squad(18.5" bbl) in .308 Win with walnut stock and a 3-9x40 Zeiss Conquest with RapidZ600 reticle. I have a Turner M1907 sling on it and have both 10-round and 20-round mags for it. I mount the scope with a Bassett Low Picatinny rail and Leupy rings. I carry a wrench for the...

Black powder revolver purchase - Bass pro

This begs a question: Making end of life decisions, I am contemplating selling my C&B revolvers...a Ruger Old Army (3 cylinders fired, meticulously cleaned), 2 Uberti 1860 Colts (1 lightly used, meticulously cleaned, 1 fluted cylinder, unfired), 1 SS Uberti 1858 Remington (lightly used...

Possibly upgrade to a different carry weapon.

If you like Glocks, take a look at the G43X. It has a grip that is the same length as the G19 but carries a 10-rd single stack mag. Shield Arms makes a 15-rd mag for it though you need to add the Shield metal mag release to use with the metal shield mags. I've rented both the Sig 365X and the...

    XDM Elite 3.8" 10mm

I have a XDm Compact (3.8" bbl) in .45ACP that I sometimes carry, Terrific gun. I have a Springfield Armory 1911 TRP in 10mm, also a terrific gun and caliber. You won't go wrong with one of those XDms. When I carry mine, I use a flush mag in the gun and an extra 13-rd full length with sleeve in...

    How accurate are rifle shooters

Hi Aces&8s (all black cards, I hope), your illustration suggests that my shooting as depicted in the group above your post is Low Accuracy, High Precision. I can move to High Accuracy, High Precision with 1 click up in elevation and 3 clicks right with my MRAD 0.1 mil scope. I was more...

    How accurate are rifle shooters

Sitting on a bench, off a bipod, 5 shots with my match loads: Prone, at 1,000 yards, I'm pretty happy with 1 MOA (10.47"). Standing, in the wind, slung up at 600 yards, I won't even hazard a guess but it won't be pretty...or small. Harry

460 S&W- Where can I shoot one in NW WA?

Having lived, fished, and hunted in Western Washington for nearly 15 years before moving to CO in 2003, I can tell you that any Bears you meet will be Black Bears that don't require a .460 Mag load. This is also true for Cougars, which you will almost certainly not see prior to their attack if...
