Why is it so hard to find a .223 in 10 or 12 twist?

I agree, you are correct. Everyone is going to the longer heaver bullets I guess. And if the fast twist works for them and the short light bullets too I guess why not.

Why is it so hard to find a .223 in 10 or 12 twist?

Ha, I have enough to keep track of now, I better not be adding another caliber.

You believe those powders would be better than H335? I'll look into those powders and see if they are available locally here.

Why is it so hard to find a .223 in 10 or 12 twist?

I probably have a lot of improvement to do in load development. I loaded these up with shooter's world tactical. That's all I could get at the time, March and April when everything was crazy. Not too pleased with the consistency of the shooter's world powder. I usually use H335. I am sure an...

Why is it so hard to find a .223 in 10 or 12 twist?

I was looking at those earlier, all I see is 1/9 twist for the .223 Rem. The .222 is 1/14.

Why is it so hard to find a .223 in 10 or 12 twist?

I have always had the impression that the faster the twist rate the slower the bullet will travel. So to get max velocity you want the slowest twist rate that will stabilise the bullet. I have also believed that if a barrel is marked .223 Rem it would be limited to bullets 60 grains and lighter...

Why is it so hard to find a .223 in 10 or 12 twist?

I loaded up some 50 grain Nosler SP and used them through a couple ARs with a 1/8 twist. Not getting them to group real well. About 2" at 100yds. I may be pushing them too hard also. I need to go back and work up the load again. Maybe even try different powder. I didn't know if it was the jump...

Why is it so hard to find a .223 in 10 or 12 twist?

It's also marked as 556 so I would think it would be at least a 1/9. I looked on their website and the slowest twist they show is 1/9.

Why is it so hard to find a .223 in 10 or 12 twist?

I agree, those would be the better route. We just came back from a hunt and most of the shooting we did was from 150 yards to 300. I feel like just staying with the 223 to keep the ammo cost down because I already have plenty of brass.

Why is it so hard to find a .223 in 10 or 12 twist?

No but that is a thought, same a Bigbl87 suggest. I could find one that is shot out and get it rebarreled.

Why is it so hard to find a .223 in 10 or 12 twist?

I didn't know if you could over stabilise or spin the light bullets too fast and therefore cause the groups to open up.

Why is it so hard to find a .223 in 10 or 12 twist?

I very well could be over thinking it.

Why is it so hard to find a .223 in 10 or 12 twist?

I was just looking around at entry level .223 bolt action rifles hoping to find one in 1/10 or 1/12 twist rate. I was thinking about a prairie dog gun that I would use shooting 40-55 grain varmint bullets. The slowest twist I found is 1/9. I know I could get a 22-250 with a 1/12 twist but I have...

    Difference in powder lots

That I have not heard. I take it that it is new powder.

    Difference in powder lots

I worked up a load using shooters world tactical rifle powder for 223 Remington. I am using mixed brass and the extreme spread is not bad, less than 70. I changed lots of powder and velocity dropped over 100fps. I had to increase the charge by .8 grains to get the velocity back up in the range I...
