Having screwed up (and subsequently pulled) some of my LSWC reloads I can say that it is possible to use an inertial puller on them on them and then re-use the bullets. When doing this, I have a cut off corner of a rag stuffed down in my inertial puller so that the front end of the bullet takes...
I've only ever broken down five or six 1911s for cleaning so I don't have the experience that some of the members on here have, but I would say that having to use a mallet for disassembly/re-assembly would fall into the "not normal" category - especially for a gun of so much $$$.
I think you...
This has been my experience too.
I was running a 105gr SWC in my German made P228 (Bore slugged at .3555) before I sold it, and the accuracy was much better with them sized to .358 instead of .356.
I think I actually have a few of those 105gr SWCs still sized at .356. I'd be willing to...
I hope he does go and pick up all the brass with his high power magnet. It'll save me the hassle of picking out out the steel cases when I go through and inspect them... :)
Thank for the links guys. I don't have terribly much free time right now, but I'll definitely be taking a closer look at those links - especially the "shooter's forum" and "Lever guns community" forums as I have some time.
I do have a couple corrections to make though: I listed the serial...
Between the buying panics I spotted a lonely little Winchester lever rifle in the back of the consignment rack. There was something about it that caught my eye - maybe it was the absolute lack of anything tacticool, the saddle ring, or that the bluing that had gone plum on some of the parts...
I've been casting WW into bullets for a couple years now - Similar to what's already been said, I think 1/3 is a bit steep for raw wheel weights. Not only is smelting them all down a pain, but when I do it I lose 15-20% of my net weight to the steel clips (in addition to all the fuel burned)...
Hi TennJed,
I had a similar thing happen to me this last week. I was re-sizing a .223 case and had somehow missed getting all the tumbling media out of it. So when I went to re-size it, the depriming pin assembly was forced up through the collet. Thank goodness it was a Lee re-sizing die and...
My favorite for doing replacement foam in cases in the Pelican Pick-N-Pluck, it's the same kind of foam as Batty67 posted but it's been die cut to make customizing it quick and easy.
To install it permanently into the case, I spray a coat of spray adhesive on the inside of the case and sliding...
As has been mentioned before, we've got a couple outdoor ranges and several indoor ranges in the L.A. area.
My favorite range in the Angeles Shooting Range (www.angelesranges.com) up Big Tijunga Canyon. They've got a nice setup, the staff is helpful and generally friendly, and they've got a...
Another thing to consider is that consignment and private party sales are excepted from the one handgun per month law.
So if you're willing to save a bundle and buy used, you might still be able to fill your shopping list by Christmas.
I like UTG's brass catcher. It does its job well and without fuss and it costs less than $10. If you like, MidwayUSA has pictures here: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=855937
To me, that looks like a portion of the safety/selector detent spring.
The pictures don't show the condition of the ends very well, do both ends of this spring look finished (with the final wrap of wire and the end ground off)?
Honestly, I don't know much about what's down there (I'm up in Pasadena myself) but I'd call the Turners in Fountain Valley ( http://turners.com ) or try the CalGuns forum ( Http://calguns.net ).
Another place you might call is the Raahauge's Shooting Sports park ( http://www.raahauges.com/ )...
See, here is where I eat a little crow.
I went into my LGS today to take couple pictures and realized that I wrote down the serial wrong. Instead of being like 52111 like I thought, it's 522111 which puts it in the 1962-68 period instead of of '56 like I initially thought.
Oh well...
