    45LC Ruger only, 44Mag questions.

My 2 main loads for the 45 Colt are real thumpers in a 5 1/2 Black Hawk. 21 gr of H4227, WLP's, under a 270 gr Keith bullet (Leadhead) 1200fps 24.5 gr of H4227, WLP's, under a 250 gr XTP. (1250 fps) Always put a hard crimp, as they might come loose and keep you're cylender from turning...

    Lined leather holsters

I have a lined holster from El Paso Saddle Co. that I really like. I was supprised when I got it that the lineing was smooth, not suede, so I called them and asked why. I was told that suede will remove the finish real fast, they don't use it. I've never noticed any "holster ware" on my relover...

    I Ate What?

The big secret to fixing alot of small, greasy critters is to par-boil them with some potatos, carrots & onion for a couple hours, then rosting them. Much of the "gamey" taste is in the fat. This works well with coon, opposum, skunk, bobcat, muskrat & beaver.

    8x57r 360

Sorry I hadn't posted sooner, but I've been busy. Had a chance to do some loading & shooting a couple weeks ago. I started off with 34gr of H4350, WLR primers & 200gr bullets. I loaded & shot 10 rounds, 1701 FPS and about 6 inches low @ 100 yards. 35gr of H4350 went 1754FPS, still low...

    8x57r 360

Thanks Jim, the 37grs of 4350 looks like what I had figured as MAX using case volume comparisons with a 30/40 Krag (8X57R 360 has 83.9% of Krag capy.), and the velosity is in my guessed range. I'll start with 34grs and go from there. Thanks also for the info on it's family, it has the same...

    8x57r 360

I found an old drilling in a local gun shop, chambered for side by side 16ga. & 8X57R 360, and decided I needed it. I figured I'd be able to reload for it with no problem. Found cartridge in the stock (has a 4 compartment storage unit in it), but it was stuck real tight. After pulling it out...

How realistic to make an an unfamiliar 300 yard shot?

I sight in @ 250 yards, so 300 is pretty much a done deal. I still do most of my shooting at game around 100 yds or less, but practice for the long ones if needed. I'm shooting a .270 and a 9.3 X 62 most of the time.

    Winchester M1 carbines?

Winchester was the orignal designer of the carbine. The couple I've seen have been no better or worse than any other, but were priced higher. Mine is a Standard Products.

What do you listen to when you reload?

I figured everybody listened to our very own Rock & Roll/NRA Director Uncle Ted like I do!

Just how BAD is the 30/30 ?

I've killed assorted critters with a 30/30, from rats & pigons to feral dogs to deer. I've also used other calibers, but a 30/30 kills just as dead. I don't ever recall any shots over 125 steps or so, I prefur a .270 if I'm shooting very far. I think the only safety problem with 30/30's I've...

    3 most useful rifles...

    I made it for a long time with a .22 rimfire, a .270 & a 12ga.

Bought the wrong primers - can I use 'em

You don't say what caliber you're planing to load. I'd be more inclined to say you could use them in 44 Special or 45 Colt revolvers for midrange loads than in a 45ACP. I would take them back to where I got them, and trade for what you need instead, or buy a pistol you could use them in.

    30-30: Do I need a Crimp Die?

You defenatly need to crimp 30/30's for a tubular magazine!
