Saiga Question: Which 308 barrel length?

I was going to buy a Saiga in 308 at the gunshow today. They did not have the 21 inch barrel, just the 16 inch barrel. (for $369 NIB with one mag) Is the 308 worth it in a 16 inch barrel, or does much of the powder not have enough time to burn? What kind of loss in velocity are we talking about...

    Anyone Have a Benchmade Rukus?

My brother got a Rukus and i've had the chance to play with it a bit. I don't have small hands, but it is a bit too large for me to open easily. I have 2 axis Benchmades and I can open them just fine, but the Rukus really is a huge folder. You might want to handle one before ordering it off the...

    MythBusters: Bullets Fired Straight Up

The terminal velocity of a bullet is not going to be very great. In my younger and dumber years, i spent a good bit of time in freefall. I'd be willing to bet money that an ordinary 9mm, 45acp, or 308 bullet would fall slower than a skydiver (120 mph). Don't ask me how I know this, lets just say...

    MythBusters: Bullets Fired Straight Up

Nope, if you fire a gun straight up, it would be like dropping the bullet from a great height. The wind resistance would limit terminal velocity to a speed that would NOT kill you if you were hit by it. Sort of like dropping a penney from the top of a tall building. The Mythbusters already...

    .22 target pistol recommendations

Joe, This is actually a pretty easy question to answer. Both the Ruger and Browning pistols are quality guns that shouldn't give you any real problems. Which one should you get? These two pistols are VERY different in the hand. The Ruger has a much more severe grip angle than the Browning...

    Rifling Fingerprint[on bullet]?

Supposedly, polygonal rifling, (like on a Glock), makes fingerprinting a bullet much less accurate. Also, it is supposedly easier to finger print a spent shell casing than a bullet. Glock keeps a spent casing from each gun they make. I've never heard if this has ever been used to catch a...

The deer control "Quiet Shotgun" (7 foot barrel!)

If you look at the ATF's own rulings, this must be considered a illegal. In the military, Shorty M16s come with a LOOONG flash supressor (like 5 inches). You've all seen them, they just look like a long flash supressor. I think all the M4s now have them. These are illegal for us to own cause...

Any interest in a CZ group buy?

How much for a CZ 85 Combat? I'd be up for one if the price is right...

How to repair peened chamber in .22LR

A question for Jim Keenan, If I were to take off a little bit of the firing pin on my Ruger Super Single Six, could I be taking away the hardened outer part, or are most/all firing pins hardened all the way through? Thaks, Gino

    Best 98K Source

The owner of Empire Arms is well known in the C&R community. He is known for being VERY knowlegable, having good stuff, for being very honest when describing his stuff, and for being maybe a little high priced. Many people are willing to pay a little more for better service. All-in-all, I'd...

    Ruger hi-cap mags

I've got a few 20 round mags from PMI that work well in my Mini 14. I don't thimk PMI is in business any longer, but I still see them NIW at gun shows from time to time. I expect that someone like (Mec-gar) will start making Mini 14 mags soon, now that the AWB is over.

    Wal-Mart firearms

One of the local gun shops actually sends people to Wally World to buy certain rifles, shotguns, and ammo. He's honest and says that his cost is usually higher than Wal-Mart's out the door price.

Benchmade, or it's not a screwdriver...

As much as I love my "tactical" folders, my SAK and Multitool seem to get used a lot more. Best thing I did knife-wise was to keep a multitool in the glovebox of my car. Prob time to throw a SAK in there as well.

    Gun Safes

Okay, noone has mentioned one of the biggest problems with buying a safe, and that's shipping. Due to VERY high shipping costs, most of us are going to HAVE to buy our safe from someone relatively local. In my area, the major safe dealer stocks Cannon and Ft. Knox. I could order some different...

    Best Folding Knife <$100?

If you aren't sure, stick with the "best" medium priced companies, Spyderco or Benchmade. Everything they make is quality (better steel than Cold Steel or CRKT) and have a lifetime warrantee.
