I own a 625-7 "Mountain Gun", which I've had for at least 20 years. I LOVE it. I've shot hundreds of rounds through it. It hits what I aim it at. The DA trigger pull isn't quite as fine as some of my older Smiths but it's good enough. It's light (but not too light) thanks to the profiled barrel...

Personally not interested in a 9mm 1911. However, I do have a Star Model B Super in 9mm, which is kind of the same thing, and I'd love a .38 Super or two. Go figure.

Had one. It was "quirky", to say the least. Very often, the first rounds loaded from the magazine would not feed into the chamber; there'd be various failures to chamber, double feeds, etc. However, once you got the rifle "hot", it would run just fine. It seemed to hit what I was pointing it at...

I can testify that the bluing on recent S&W guns is definitely weaker than on older guns. I've had a couple of modern blued Smiths -- a 29-8 and a "Smith & Walther" PPK. Dad carried his Model 60 in a leather belt holster (over which he'd wear a jacket). He had a couple of them; one was definitely a Lawrence but I'm not sure what the other was (I don't have access to them right now). He also had a shoulder holster (another Lawrence) but I don't recall seeing him...

They're just as good as any other S&W 1917, but they were better when they were first being imported (because they were dirt cheap... *sigh* another missed opportunity...).
