I'd shoot it. Then again, I'm not a collector. Every gun I purchase, I purchase with the intention of shooting it, and shooting if often.

Everything else sounds like great advice. Also might consider a Chiappa Rhino. I haven't handled one personally but heard great things from people who own them. Only thing to be slightly concerned about is that it hasn't been as time-tested as the other choices out there, but I haven't...

Glad to hear some voices of reason. I just scored a 627 PC 5" for $750. Before this, I've pretty much just shot Rugers.. but after testing some S&Ws out.. I was completely sold on the trigger.

Just curious on this issue. Across several boards, I notice people swearing off current S&Ws like they're cursed monkey paws. I know most if not all people are not fans of the internal locks.. but aside from that.. are things REALLY that bad.. or is this just another case of gunowners following...

I'm waiting for one to arrive. A 627 5" PC. I'll probably buy two of those Five Star speed loaders just for backup and to accompany the gun nicely.

Why go 9 when you can go 20?

Well, things turned out good. I'm just finalizing my deal with a gentleman to get a like new 627 5" PC for $750. Downside is no aluminum case and wood grips, but I didn't really have a need for those. The gun literally looks like its fresh out of the box.

I like both so I didn't vote. I started off with a 6" Ruger GP100 but I've since pretty much traded that in +$200 for a used, but like new PC 5" S&W 627. I think I'll be making off pretty well after all is said and done.

As far as I know, they just produced J-Frames without the locks. I don't know if this applies to any of their other revolvers though.

Definitely been keeping my eye out for this one. Originally I wanted one of the full sizers, but I think the small one appeals to me more now. After I get my 627, this will probably be my next purchase if it ever makes the CA roster or someone has one I can do a PPT with.
