Should It Be the 5 Safety Rules?

Yeah, and Rule #2 is my argument against the now popular "appendix carry", sure it's fast, but also allows for the possibility of destroying something you might want to use later...... ouch!

Carried round count for bump in the night

6 in my carry gun, and if I really think something was outside, I keep a shotgun with 3 rds of 00Buck in the tube behind my bedroom door. I do have my extra carry gun ammo handy, but I seriously doubt I'll ever need that many rounds. I live in a very peaceful rural area with practically no...

How would mag capacity restrictions change your SD handgun selection?

I am personally not concerned with mag capacity. I don't currently own any high cap handguns, and when I carry a semi auto pistol it's an 8+1 .45ACP. I plan to spend next year in stock service revolver class in IDPA and since it has been a long standing practice of mine to carry and compete with...

    Reliability:

There is a thread in the handgun section debating the ultimate reliability of semi-auto pistols vs. revolvers, and while they both have their merits, no machine is infallible. Taking that into consideration, how many of us have firearms that have never malfunctioned? I have several, my .223 AR...

    Reliability, an observation

You pay your money, and you take your chances. I've been competing with handguns for nearly 30 years, and I've seen just about every kind of failure there is. I am comfortable carrying an auto, or a revolver, but if the question is sheer reliability, I'll give the edge to the wheelgun, at least...

    s&w model 15-4

    Very nice, I'm a sucker for K frame .38s myself! Enjoy. :)

.45 ACP round for carry weapon on archery Bear hunt

I'd keep it simple, and load it with 230gr FMJ, good penetration, besides, whats that Glock hold 13-14 rounds? I really don't see a reason to get too carried away, it's pretty unlikely you'll need it anyway.

If you could only use one handgun for Concealed Carry and all your hunting...

For what you are asking a 4" .357 would probably be the best choice, it would be hard for me to imagine a more versatile handgun. I don't happen to own one at the moment, so if I were forced to pick from my current collection it would be a government model 1911 in .45ACP, it would do OK on...

    I Want a New 1911

Springfield makes a great 1911, it's a quality pistol priced right. I have used one in CDP class in IDPA since 2007, and it has proven reliable, and durable for many thousands of rounds. If I were in the market for a solid shooter I would be looking at their Range Officer line.

    The Snubby's Dirty Little Secret

I chrono'ed the Speer 135gr GDHP SB round last weekend to compare it to Remingtons new 125 +P short barrel round. I was very surprised to see the GDHP averaging 860 fps, and the Remington 909 fps. This was from a 2" model 64. Both rounds were accurate, and easily controllable, and I thing either...

    Decisions, Decisions...please help

Since you are wanting a new gun, and already have a MP 9mm, which would be fine in SSP class, I'd go with the Springfield 9mm 1911, you already like the 1911, and a 9mm is a pussycat to shoot, and would be a ball to play with in ESP class. Go get it, and have FUN!

Which revolver, security six or model 19?

I personally would go with the S&W, but I'm a fanboy! Ruger makes strong durable firearms, and the security six is a good revolver, however, I like the feel, and shooting characteristics of the 19 much better. YMMV

    What is your EDC?

I'm back to revolvers, I've carried almost everything, 1911's, which are still my favorite range/competition pistol, Glocks, great guns, I just don't like the things. I went with the mindset to be ready for anything, service pistol with at least one spare mag, back up gun, tactical folder...

Which of the following is surrounded by the most gun-related myths?

Another vote for #1 "The best SD handgun round". There are several good ones, but this debate will probably never end, everyone likes their choice the best. :) (Including me)
