    Winchester 1873 value?

sorry to be so late responding. Apparently it was the result of a chemical cleaning done to the rifle years ago that took all the blueing and patina off--and then promptly rusted. I passed on it. The guy wanted $600.

    Winchester 1873 value?

I am seriously considering buying this, but I am concerned about the finish. Does anyone have an idea what this is? Was it painted silver in a previous life, or has anyone ever seen one rust or age like this? Any help is appreciated.

Worst lines you've heard from gun sellers?

not exactly a gun seller not a gun seller, but a teacher at my son's middle school (Practical Law class, of all things) told the class that "it is illegal to buy a gun out of a trunk of a car". I laughed so hard that night at supper when I heard that.

    coyote meat is great!

I didnt eat it, but it sure made a nice pelt Years ago driving home one night, I stopped because a fox (what I later learned was a coyote) got hit by the car ahead of me. I had been hunting/trapping for a few years and hated to see any animal go to waste. Either eat it, or skin it. I was young...

Need advice on a Police "Riot" 870

Could always go with a new one You just missed the sale at CDNN--had Remington 870 tacticals for $299 brand new. If you aren't in a hurry, bookmark http://summitgunbroker.com// and keep an eye out there. He has had police trade in 870s in the past for well within your price range. Good luck.

Suggestions for a 9mm, not to carry, as a first gun?

Consider your wife My wife didn't want a gun in the house (I had one--which was a huge concession), till a similar incident happened when I was traveling with work--I came home to see her cradling my S&W 66 on the couch. We lived in an apartment, and some drunk started banging on the door...

Bolt action .22S, L, and LR.

Henry? Might sound crazy, but a Henry lever will feed S, L, and LR. I have seen some used ones around the $200 mark--new around here are $280. Just a thought.

10 rd original SKS mag interchangeability?

I never happen into deals like Scoped $200 for any sks is a deal these days. Wish I would have loaded up on them back at the gun shows in the 80s. I used to walk right past those things. Hindsight is always 2020.

    getting a Traditions DeerHunter

I just bought my first BP off gunbroker (kinda nervous)--a Traditions Deer Hunter (.50 cal). Says it is used but in good condition. I want to keep it simple--just want to go shoot a few rounds to get the feel. I know I need caps, balls, and powder, as well as cleaning supplies. I have...
