The banded front sight is very classy but requires a lot more labor to get it to fit than a regular ramped front sight. It's also harder to do without damaging the finish (if you care about the finish).
This may be a long shot but if you've tried two extractors and they both failed I would suspect the extractor groove in the bolt face. If the groove was not machined properly, it may not be allowing the extractor enough free movement to pop over the rim of the case. I have heard about...
Here's a suggestion if you can't find a new stock. Repair the missing wood on your existing stock with Bondo or AcraGlas and send it to a duplicator. They should be that expensive for a rough blank.
If the gun has been dry fired and the firing pin is too long then it can create a ding at the top of the chamber. This means that the rim of the .22 case isn't fully supported and the firing pin has to push the rim until it bottoms out in the divot before it can crush the priming compound.

Is this for a riveted style extractor? If so, there is no extractor spring so I'm not sure which part you mean. Does it have a Sako or M16 style extractor installed?
It could be the profile or width of the extractor if everything else is kosher.
Do you have problems with it extracting...
Lacquer thinner may work but it will be hard to get the stock evenly done before starting to apply the new finish. It may thin the finish and let it soak into the places on the stock in the spots were the grain is more open. Every time I have tried to strip a stock like that I end up having to...
My shop does almost all of the warranty work for Cimarron, who imports Uberti guns, so I have worked on hundreds of these.
I believe the biggest problem with them is the lack of final fitting by the factory. The problem is that they are trying to make guns that were designed when hand...
I have used DuraCoat on several guns and have yet to have a problem with tolerances being closed up. Of course, now that I say this, the next gun will be hard to put together.....
This is common sense but you have to make sure your parts are clean, clean, clean before you paint. Also, it's...
My suggestion would be to drill the hole, free float the barrel and then see how it shoots. If you don't get the kind of accuracy you're looking for, you can always go back and bed it later. Good luck!
