I suspect the way to press the issue safely would be to get the federal tax stamp, purchase the suppressor and then have the Idaho Attorney General sue the Feds to get your $200 back. It gets kicked up to the Supreme Court for their decision, no Federal laws were ever broken.
Great advise Col. Plink and dmazur. It is best to adjust for each load. My current adjustment point just cycles reliably for Remington 150 (another click and it will not strip next round) and is much more reliable for commercial Remington 165 and 180 grain. I am satisfied with this current...
I use a Schuster that I ordered from Midway and am quite pleased with it. It comes opened up so that too much gas vents through the plug, forcing you to set it up for your load. I adjusted mine so that it just cycles and strips off the next round with my lightest 150 grain commercial load...
I have a newer BLR Lightweight '81 in 30-06 with the 22" barrel and I find it very handy and comfortable to shoulder and shoot. The 22" barrel makes it quick for me to maneuver. It shares ammo with my IHC Garand with it's 24" barrel which is also very handy but a bit slower to maneuver.
