Had buffer milled on AR15, looks good.

Finally found a smith who knew what to do. When I told him what was happening he milled the buffer without my telling him how to fix it. I'm impressed. I sure thank you guys for telling me how to cure my buffer problem. I haven't shot it yet but when I close the action I can see the bolt carrier...

found why my buffer is all dinged up

I will ask my brother to bring his Bushmaster over again so I can swap uppers and lowers around. Could one of you show me what the receiver face looks like that might need to be refaced?

Whoa, dude! Mr. "mtrmn," your pdf on milling the buffer looks like the best, so clever. I made some glorious copies in color.

found why my buffer is all dinged up

The upper is RRA, the lower is an AR57 out of Kent Washington. It was put together by a fellow here in town who is reputed to be a gunsmith. When I showed him the busted off detente pin and battered buffer he replaced the pin and told me not to worry about it. The rifle has only 100 rounds...

found why my buffer is all dinged up

While studying my AR15 I saw what was happening. On my rifle, When the action is closed, there was daylight between the buffer and the bolt carrier. When the action is closing the back end of the bolt carrier must push the buffer back 1/16 of an inch so that the buffer won't bang on the detente...

    buffer problem

You may have hit it, "Ifishsum," this piece has an RR upper and the lower is by an outfit in Kent Washington. it was put together by a fellow here in town. The same fellow who told me the dinged buffer is not a problem.

    buffer problem

I went to a neighborhood smith and he told me not to worry about it. I don't buy that. I read recently that a heavier buffer is generally better. Nonetheless, the buffer and spring are meant to return the bolt carrier and I don't believe the detente pin is designed arrest the motion of the...

    buffer problem

My buffer is banging away on the detente pin in my AR15. I've already broken one pin. I don't think it is supposed to work that way. I thought the pin is just to keep the buffer and spring from flying out when you open the action. Can someone tell me what's going on here?

    Bushnell TRS-25......I think

After a long search, I think I will purchase the TRS-25 for my new AR. I would love the Aimpoint Micro but have taken a reduction in income this year. Therefore, I feel that the Bushnell is my best buy in the $100 range. Am I on the right track?

Aimpoint Pro, Eotech EXPS3, Burris AR-1X, or Trij. RXO1SN?

Thanks for the info guys, very much appreciated.

Aimpoint Pro, Eotech EXPS3, Burris AR-1X, or Trij. RXO1SN?

However, the 4MOA dot might be excessive. The light weight is definitely appealing. The mount may not be as exceptional as the Pro and is not included. Nonetheless, I would like to hear more about the Micro and its adaptability to the AR.

Aimpoint Pro, Eotech EXPS3, Burris AR-1X, or Trij. RXO1SN?

Yeah, rogerjames, I always wanted an AR and a couple of months ago I won a nice one in a raffle! I put flip-up iron sights on it but I'm going slowly choosing an RDS. They cost a lot of beans so I would like it to be the right one for me.

Aimpoint Pro, Eotech EXPS3, Burris AR-1X, or Trij. RXO1SN?

I do like the how the EOTech gets on target quickly with the circle and dot but I'm hearing about reliability problems.
