    Are hollow points really better?

Right, no hydrostatic shock, no damage from cavitation, so accurate shots are what count. So use soft shooting FMJs. Competition shooters go by rounds on target and fast shots, which seems like what we want in real life. As long as the penetration is there why aren't we going that route instead...

    Are hollow points really better?

If over penetration is crap, and shot placement is everything I'll use FMJs. If over penetration isn't crap, where is the HP, which works 100 percent of the time. It's my life, it's me who'll have a civil lawsuit against me if I have a shoot through, and if HPs aren't 100 percent than give me...

    Are hollow points really better?

According to the luck gunner ballistics lab only 61% of 175 .45 acp hollow point bullets expanded. So it's actually, 2 out of 5 don't expand. Out of the 35 companies tested only 9 met the FBI standard. This is only 26%. Most failed by failing to expand and over penetrating. Hollow points fail...

    Are hollow points really better?

Mostly asking because hollow point ammo fails to expand fairly frequently. Sometimes one in five fail to expand, which is 20 percent. If my pistol failed to fire 20 percent of the time, I'd throw it away. Over penetration seems to be the problem with ball ammo, but for a .45 to expand...

    Are hollow points really better?

I've been doing carry ammo research, so I've been absorbing a lot of data, and one thing has been bugging me. If our standard for carry ammo is the FBI requirements, and if shot placement is key, why carry hollow points if an fmj can be made to fit FBI standards? (I'm not saying this is gospel...

Trying to find compatible springs for a Rossi 351

Thanks. I'll give the S&W springs a try.

IL CC Permit applications approved - it's starting

I'm glad to hear that they're actually issuing them. Congratulations! You can now look forward to your wife standing by the front door and yelling "Are you ready yet? Just pick a gun. I don't care if you're just trying to put your holster on we're late! What? No, you're not printing let's go."

Trying to find compatible springs for a Rossi 351

I have this Rossi 351 that I've turned into a project gun, and I'm trying to find compatible springs to lighten the trigger pull from 14 pounds to something decent. I've looked all over forums, emailed manufactures and I've found nothing on what springs might work. I could cut coils, but I'd...

    Giving up

I see a lot of people on forums saving their ammo, because they don't want to be stuck with none. I completely understand that impulse, but I'm not going to do that. Between not shooting ammo I have and just being without ammo, I think I'd rather be without. At least that way I'll have a little...

    Not cool anymore?

I'm sorry but people get 1911's for nostalgia. They look sexy and rugged at the same time and are reliable, but you can find better stuff for less or the same money.

    Spare parts

I'm looking for where I can buy spare parts for a Rossi .38 special model R351. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm trying to learn how to gunsmith and I have a revolver I'm willing to sacrifice to practice and I know I'm going to ruin some part of it. I was just wondering where I could buy...

Where do you carry your BUG?

I have been thinking about starting to carry a back up, but I haven't decided on how I'm going to carry it. It would either be my Bersa thunder CC .380 to back up my Kahr PM9 or it will be my PM9 backing up my XD-45 compact. So if you do carry a back up where do you carry it?

Those who cc. Do you wear magazine holders?

Sometimes I have a double mag carrier for my xd45 but if I carry my Kahr PM9I usually carry two or three spare seven round mags. They're so small I just carry a bunch of them.

Few days ago I did witness something that got me very scared...

I'm going to comment on an earlier poster that says that the military doesn't shoot thousands of rounds a year. You do realize the United States is in a War right? Two of them actually. Don't you think in a fire fight you might fire off hundreds of rounds in a single day? Wouldn't that give...
