    Why peep sights?

I love peep sights. In fact, I try and find rifles with peep sights. I put some Williams FP peep sights on my Winchester 94 and I like it a lot better. It's much faster to acquire the target and it's very accurate. I sold my AR, but the one thing I really liked about the AR was the...

The only rifle that you could take.

I'm with Mr. Blue - I think a Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle would be a good rifle. It's very accurate, ammo is very available (I reload but also buy 308 from walmart and surplus .308), and it's built like a tank. bolt actions are easy to clean and maintain, and it's nice that the gun has irons...

What's your attitude about S&W Revolvers with the Integral lock?

I dislike the like a lot, but will still buy an S&W with one in spite of the lock. I have a J-frame with the lock and it has been reliable and it is a very well made gun.

Cycling a lever action rifle upside down...

Thanks guys. I know it's kinda an absurd question, but I read it on the internet (I think on THR) once and recently decided to try it out to see if it was true. With my Win 94, the carrier will hold the round if the gun is upside down, but the weight of the bullet causes the round to flop in...

Cycling a lever action rifle upside down...

I have a Winchester 94 Trapper and I love this gun. I've read that it's not possible to cycle a Win 94 upside down. I tried this the other day and the round did not feed properly when the rifle was held upside down. I was wondering if this was the case with Marlin lever actions. Can they...

44 Mag Bullet Drop at 100 yards

Win71 - I'm guessing that when it's that cold outside the air is more dense and maybe this has a more adverse effect on the bullets trajectory. Thanks all for the replies.

    Recoil pad for Win 94?

What's a good recoil pad for a Winchester 94 Trapper carbine. I have one in .44 mag that is tame with the .44 sp loads, but a bit sharp with .44 mag loads. Is a recoil pad something that needs to be fitted to the stock or can I get a prefit pad and screw it on? Thanks.

44 Mag Bullet Drop at 100 yards

Thanks for the replies folks. I think I will zero my rifle at 50 yards, since our range only has target holders at 25, 50 and 100 yards.

44 Mag Bullet Drop at 100 yards

I'm not sure whether to put this in the handgun or long gun section, since I have a question about shooting a handgun cartridge from a long gun... I have a Winchester 94 Carbine (16" barrel) in .44 mag. I normally shoot .44 special and the occasional 44 mag loads in this gun. I recently...

Gas or debris blown back from .22 revolver?

Thanks all for the responses. I've seen that photo before of the fellow's thumb and it is a very good warning for shooters!

Gas or debris blown back from .22 revolver?

Hi All, Thanks for the replies. I think you are right. It's probably powder flecks. I did notice some tiny black specks once on part of the paper bag when I was at the range (looked like burnt powder) so maybe that's what's happening. It doesn't happen very frequently so I'm not too...

Gas or debris blown back from .22 revolver?

Hi All, I have a Ruger New Model Bearcat revolver in .22LR. It's a handy and great little gun. When I first got the gun, the cylinder chambers were not aligned with the barrel and it shaved lead like crazy. At the advice of this forum, I sent the gun back to Ruger and they repaired it...

    NAA .22LR Mini Revolver

Highroad - I owned the .22LR version. i bought it because they are neat looking. My NAA was really well made, but it wasn't very practical. It was super hard to hold and shoot the gun due to the tiny grips and very short barrel. I have long but skinny hands and I had a tough time shooting...

    CCW Gear For Bicycle Commuting

HM2PAC - that's great that you are bike commuting. I don't usually CCW when I ride, but if I did CCW when I rode all of the time, I would consider getting a Camelback Goblin fannypack. It's designed for CCW...

What is the best state for gun owners?

NH is one of the best. Open carry allowed (no permit required). Shall issue CCW. My CCW license was approved and ready in one day. Also, there aren't very many restrictions on where you can't carry. Courthouses are prohibited, but I think that's about it. Class III weapons allowed (full...
