I don't zip up my coat when carrying (OWB). I would just use a normal jacket but make sure it doesn't have any drawstrings or something that can catch your weapon when you fling it open.

I shoot an HK P2000 in action pistol and sometimes have to drop the mags (w/ rounds in them) on concrete ground. So far all the mags are still working. Each mag has been dropped many times on gravel and a few times on concrete.
