I've bought and sold a lot of firearms over the years, only maybe one or two I would like to have back. I had a beautiful blued SW 586 6" pre-lock I wish I had kept. Gun addiction causes me to continue a life long search for the perfect rifle, the perfect shotgun, the perfect handgun, etc. I...
I'm 68 yo, raised in rural Arkansas, clearly remember folks having hunting rifles and shotguns displayed on wall gun racks. Rarely saw any handguns in homes. After college in the 1970's I had a very nice double glass door gun cabinet in the bedroom. Seems like gun cabinets began being replaced...
"They're kinda addictive..." Agreed, we probably should just admit we really never met a gun we didn't like, could we please just own at least one of every model.:D
For a couple years I've kind of been thinking I would like to try a hammer fire polymer and had a HK P2000 9mm on the list. I have not been actively looking for one, just thinking one would come across my path someday. Stumbled into one a few weeks ago and pulled the trigger.
If you like shooting, a lever .22 is about as much fun as it gets. I saw this Marlin 39A in the LGS a few years ago I knew I couldn't leave the store without.
Still a couple years away from the big retirement day. I have thought about this before seeing this thread, conclusion has been a nice semi-custom 1911 from Wilson or Nighthawk. It's kind of sad I've lived within 40 miles of both shops most of my life but never owned one of their guns.:(
I had 3 or 4 of the early Ruger Mini 14s back in the the 1980's/90's. I thought those were the cat's meow for needing a handy little truck carbine. There was one problem, I could never get one of them to shoot less than a 5-6" group @ 100 yds., accuracy was just horrible. Finally gave up on...
I'm late on this conversation but putting in my 2 cents. Muzzle brakes or barrel porting on hunting rifles, no thanks for me. Guess I'm too old to embrace them but I just have never seen the advantage, a solution without a problem.
Nice job on the stock repair, you did good. I'm approaching 70, funny how my magnum rifles have slowly disappeared from the safe over the years. I have learned over the years how stock configuration and rifle weight greatly affect recoil. Years ago I bought a Win. Featherweight SS with classic...
A little over your $500 budget but just purchased this used one at the LGS this afternoon. Vanguard SS Bell & Carlson pillar bedded stock, black spider web gray in 270 Win for $550. This dates to the 2005-2010 era when Weatherby first started marketing Sub MOA rifles in the Vanguard line. I'd...
Only ported gun I've owned was a G23c. My biggest complaint was most of the time when a round was touched off I would get a face of stinging unburned powder. Combine that with the extra blast and fireball porting seems like a solution to a non-existent problem. The only advantage I can see would...
