Definitely a lever gun in .357 magnum/.38 Special. Mine is a Marlin 1894.

It is absolutely counter intuitive, but air guns are harder on scopes than centerfire rifles. Because they reverse direction it puts a heck of an acceleration on the scope and mounts. I think it has to do with the second derivative of velocity, when velocity reverses, acceleration hits...
