Sounds like a reasonable idea to me....many people do just that. Or, if not on their person, they at least have one handy. Home invaders usually do not knock politely, then give you time to go to another room, open the safe, select your favorite HD gun and load it. ;)

Realistically.....My state doesn't allow concealed carry of rifles or shotguns. The one that is on me at the time I need it. .
