    Magnum Primer Problem

I appreciate your concern for my safety. I understand the risks and took precautions that I consider adequate. I did not just start reloading yesterday. I'm not looking for a critique of my safety procedures. I am looking for suggestions that will make the rounds fire reliably from my gun, if...

    Magnum Primer Problem

By checked, I mean that I visually inspected each case to make sure the primer was seated below flush. When I first found the problem, I reran all the rounds through the primer seating station, just to make sure the primers were seated deeper than flush with the case bottom. I just replaced...

    Squib

I use Hornady One-shot as the case lube. It's possible that I got a bunch of it inside this case. I use walnut shells or corncob with Nufinish as my cleaning media. No water. I don't think I had any media in the case. With the .500 cases, it's pretty easy to get it out, and I'm more careful...

    Squib

I was shooting my S&W .500 last weekend and had a squib. This is the first time I've ever had one. I'm perplexed because there was powder in the case. My load was 42.5 grains of H110, Winchester large rifle primer, and 350 grain JFP from Berry's. I loaded it about 4 months ago with...

    Magnum Primer Problem

The primers are seated to the correct depth - I've checked and double checked. I thought it might be a dirty striker channel on the guns, so I stripped the slides and cleaned them thoroughly and made sure the channels were dry when I reassembled. That's why I wondered if a stronger...

    Magnum Primer Problem

I'm as sure as I can be. The box they came from says "Small Pistol Magnum Primers".

    Magnum Primer Problem

I loaded up some 9mm ammo with Wolf magnum primers instead of standard primers. When I shoot them from either of my Glock-17s, about 10% fail to fire. Both guns have fired thousands of other rounds without any problems. On the rounds that don't go off, the primers are dented, but not very...

    Texas license

I was at the CHL instructor class last week, and they said most applications are taking about 4 months right now. For people from Harris, Galveston, and I think Brazoria counties it's taking longer. In May they received 15,000 applications. Last year they getting about 5000 per month.

    2009 Rangemaster Tactical Conference AARs

How difficult is it to get an invitation to the NTI? If you ask for one, do you generally get it?

    Weight of ammo

It depends on the bullet weight. I just traveled with 230 gr .45 ammo, and it came out to just over 2 pounds per box of 50. At 7000 grains/pound, that comes out to about 280 grains per cartridge. So about 50 grains per case, powder, and primer. If you've got 180 grain bullets in .40, that...

XD 45 IWB carry -- realistic?

I too carry an XD45. Mine's the compact - same as the service model, but smaller grip. I used to carry with a Galco Skyops holster, but switched to a Comp-Tac MTAC. I like the Comp-Tac much more.

    USA Today Please VOTE!

Doesn't the right to keep and bear arms exist regardless of the 2nd amendment? The 2nd only recognizes the right. That's my understanding of the entire Bill of Rights.

    Rock island 1911 Q's

All these different sight dimensions are frustrating! I just took the front sight off of my RIA 5" Tactical and measured it. I also measured 2 other Novak-style front sights (one from Dawson Precision and one from Fusion Firearms). The RIA sight's base is .082" thick and .314" front to...
