I'm being tempted by the 1911....

Bushing tool? Ever notice that the bottom of the mag (without the pad) is the same shape as the bottom of the bushing? It's the first thing I go for if I'm field stripping mine. I'm carrying one in the hole, and 8 in the mag, so capacity's not too bad. With factory ammo, it is totally reliable -...

    Indiana Handgun Law

All of Indiana's gun laws can be found at http://www.in.gov/legislative/ic/code/title35/ar47/ I do agree with El Tejon about getting the licence - its cheap, even the lifetime one isn't too bad. I actually hadn't read any of the code up until about a year ago, and had routinely traveled to...

Whoops, set off alarm system at work...

I was working late a couple months ago, and about 3 a.m., and I heard the front door ring (small bell tied to the closer arm). The office has solid walls to about 5', then glass above, so you can see from front to back. I had the lights on in the back, but it was all dark in front. I stand up...

How many concealed carry permits do you have?

I made up an excel file from the info at packing.org, while contemplating my next permit. Note that it is entirely possible that it is all wrong, so double check before you take it as gospel.....

    Ask An Anti

Best advice I have is let her say her piece, while making notes, and then go point by point down the list and discredit every point and statistic. When she blows up, pause and let her rant a bit, then continue in a calm manner. By the time you get to the end of the list, she'll be totally livid...

    Best Non-Lethal Weapons

I'm seriously considering an umbrella. http://www.real-self-defense.com/umbrella.html Main thing I like about it is you can carry it about anywhere without looking odd. My walking stick is fine around here, but would look out of place in downtown chicago.

83 Year old great grandmother fends off mugger!

My favorite part of the whole story: And thanks to the good samaritan. All to often people are afraid to get involved and stop things like this.

Kentucky Lawmaker Wants to Make Anonymous Internet Posting Illegal

These politicians need to do their jobs, and take care of the real problems, and stop dreaming up new ones to "solve". Have to use your real name on the internet? Oh the horror!

    Katrina-like confiscations in Greensburg, KS

The tornado was on May 4, 2007? Or am I missing something? Everything I could find said that 95% of the town was leveled, and the other 5% was severely damaged. Population of the town was about 1500? Just trying to get some facts straight

(IL) Secession from Cook, the revolt may finally kick off

Nah- That crook likes to work under cover of night, like when he had Meigs Feild destroyed overnight. He'll figure out some other way to prevent. Probably back-alley deals and payoffs....Welcome to Chicago!

Any considerations needed to make sure a HEAVY gunsafe don't damage the floor?

Just for a little comparison - a fully wet honda goldwing tips the scales at just under 1000 pounds. Parking that in your living room would stress the floor less since the weight is spread out over 2 points. If your going to put one on a wood floor, you need to do a little more than throw a...

Any considerations needed to make sure a HEAVY gunsafe don't damage the floor?

I'd be more worried about if overloading the floor structure when it is in place. It may hold just the weight of the safe, but when all your buddys gather around to admire it - look out. Another thing to worry about is fire under a wood floor. It won't need to burn long to drop that thing...
