Hog Hunter is solid
I bought a Hog Hunter in .308 and I really like it. First, I love the .308 round for hogs. Bang-flop. Second, the iron sights are easy-to-find for target acquisition. Good stuff if the hog starts to move. Third, the weight is maybe a pound more than others (I guess) but it...
UPDATE -- Unfortunately no luck. The #0000 and even some #00 did not take the goo off, nor has goo gone, nor has toothpaste. The stuff must have gotten baked in there good. It's hot here in Texas. So I guess this rifle can become a field gun for me and maybe I'll someday either sand it all down...
Can someone please help me identify which redfield peep sight is pictured? Maybe for a lever gun? Thanks!:)

Not sure on the type of finish. Remington told me the gun was made in 2000.
I haven't tried the Liquid Gold or Goo Gone but I will.
Also thinking about refinishing with Tru Oil. Seems like good results from the YouTube vids I've watched. Thoughts?
Please help. I need advice. How can I clean some sort of residue that seeped into the grain of this walnut stock, apparently from a butt stock ammo carrier? The walnut on this Rem 700 is beautiful. I just need to gently clean that area. See photo. I've tried Lemon Pledge wood polisher and...
hey, I did not weigh this guy when I shot him last December. Don't have a scale that large ;-) Any guesses on weight?

The dogs around him were in the 75-95 pound range. They were along for the ride and did not help with finding that brute.
I love my Woodsmaster 742
Just my $0.02 -- I got a Woodsmaster 742 in .308 as part of a trade and I didn't know any of the criticisms it has been given.
All I know is that I've put about 30 rounds through it, to zero my scope and get a feel for it. I love it. I've killed deer with it. I've...
I think you are absolutely correct. I think my first shot was too close to the ear. Look at the video here http://www.scout.com/outdoors/texas-hunt-fish/story/1441142-texas-hog-hunt-with-silencer
It looks like the shot has to be a couple of inches below the ear. I think mine was higher. It...
This one had stopped the dance but was still breathing. Labored breathing, no doubt, but breathing. I figured it was only a matter of a few more minutes but I thought a second shot to the head would stop that. It did. Thoughts?
