    Remington 700 floating and bedding

    On my slightly used Remington 700 ADL, 30-06....I know what floating the barrel is by sanding out the stock. But "bedding the action"....is that seating the action in the stock solidly by using the oozing epoxy mixture? Does this stablize the action better? This combined with floating barrel...

    Is Rem 700 ADL free-floating?

    Sanding then shimming? If you sand the stock down to clear the dollar bill, what would you use to shim the front end later? Brass shim stock? Index card? Fold up a dollar bill? Does the barrel need to clear the bill all the way up the stock?
