I have a chance to buy a ported 12 ga. pump, built in 2011 and very little used. Asking price is "a song". But I'm concerned about the noise and blast effect of the porting, especially in a shared duck blind. Since I've never shot a ported gun, I'd appreciate any thoughts. Thanks.

Bought a new to me Mossberg 500, in camo. Can't find serial number, even with magnifying glass (70 + year old eyes, you know). Camo coat seems to obscure all stamped info. Where should it be? Thanks.

Recently bought a "new to me" minty 500 Camo, ported barrel. The receiver is drilled and tapped on top, and the holes go through to the chamber. BUT there are no screws in the holes-just "open". Is this safe to shoot as is, or do I have to get screws put into the holes first?

Actual length per box is 65 mm Should have been clearer. These have a solid top wad and "old style" roll crimp. The actual fired length would be about 2 1/2 " as nearly as I can tell with a ruler.

Silver Pigeon Love mine, because I can hit with it, and it's a joy to carry (20 ga.). I can hit because it fits me. The Citoris just didn't feel as right - for me. So try as many as possible before buying.

Recently bought a 1949 vintage 99 in .300 Savage. Need a peep ("ghost ring") rear sight, but don't want to drill any new holes. Internet search turns up some tales about people who bought such sights then had to drill to mount them. Anyone with some real world experience on this?

I have a 37 (1958 edition, much used and silky smooth), plus 3 BPS (1 20 ga. and 2 12 ga.) BPS good things -top tang safety (good for lefties and anyone used to a double) -rock solid, and pretty smooth out of the box -bottom ejection means easy pick-up of cases and no empties flying...

I have 3 BPS and one M37. BPS for the webbed feet (heavy, less recoil, and you only have to carry it to the boat (how we hunt anyway). 37 for the rest. easier to carry, and maybe a bit slicker. I'd only change the 37s safety to top tang to make it perfect... I'm tight handed, but...
