    Browning SA-22 with barrel bulge?

The most accurate 22 I own is a Stevens Favorite with a bulge in the barrel about halfway down. In this case the bullet is apparently not damaged at the bulge and it has enough barrel left to engage the rifling.

Should I have passed on it?

I think you did the right thing. The long barrel DAO was not to your liking. That's reason enough. Although the longer barrels are, in my opinion, more desirable in DA/SA. But DAO in a 5" barrel is really contraintuative. Can't pocket carry it well and at contact distance all it accomplishes is...

4473 question regarding License with no longer current address

I'll bow out of the conversation. I write as I speak and the part I didn't write was that this FFL will not accept supplemental documents if the DL/ID has the incorrect address. I thought that was obvious. But apparently not. He may be an idiot but he's one of largest independent (not a chain...

4473 question regarding License with no longer current address

Not law, but some FFL's will not transfer if the address is not correct on the license or other photo identification for probably any number of reasons that may not make sense to you or I. Their choice.

Shipment of ANTIQUE (pre 1899) production revolver from New Jersey to Pennsylvania

In answer to your direct question I don't know. Here in Arizona if my FFL receives an antique firearm sent to him fron any source for transfer he will go through the 4473 and background check. He may be being overly cautious. But he believes that the sender is the deciding entity in determining...

    30-06 to 404 Jeffery

Thanks again. I read a sequence for modifying a 98 action and the magazine mods along with the feed modifications were pretty extensive (at least in this amateur’s opinion). And I think he’s thinking it’s a simple widening of the box.

    30-06 to 404 Jeffery

Thanks JR. He’s done a ton of research over the last 10 years or so. It’s the commercial version of the Springfield Model of 1917 and basically a Mauser 98 action with a slightly bigger box magazine originally intended for the British P14 303. So the general idea is it is a better match for...

    30-06 to 404 Jeffery

If he'd like to discuss it for discussion reasons, then bring him on. But he's been talking about this project for the better part of 10 years. And I'm pretty sure this is a project that Accuracy Speaks would take on. I personally would like to know the details of what to expect. He needs to...

    30-06 to 404 Jeffery

FYI - this isn’t something I’m interested in tackling. Lightyears beyond my skill set. Initially I thought I might be able to help with the bottom metal. But as I read more that won’t be me and if my buddy listens to me he’ll have the gunsmith do that.

    30-06 to 404 Jeffery

A buddy of mine is planning a conversion of a Remington Model 30 Express from 30-06 to 404 Jeffrey. This is something he's going to have a gunsmith do. At least the hard parts. He's considering the stock work which he's done before. In general, what are the things he needs to consider? Here...

Hopkins and Allen 12 Ga. Double SxS Hammer Gun - Model?

I think we can assume that mine is a Davenport design. Below are some pictures of a Davenport Double Hammer Gun with the same characteristics as mine. Agree?

Hopkins and Allen 12 Ga. Double SxS Hammer Gun - Model?

100 plus year old corporate research is frustrating at best. I now have the Carder book on H&A tip up shotguns but really don't have any additional information. The carder book describes all of the H&A Double hammer guns as having a dolls head rib extension and even provided a detailed...

Shipment of ANTIQUE (pre 1899) production revolver from New Jersey to Pennsylvania

In construction the saying is RTFC. Or Read the Flippin Contract. And of course you’re right. I’ll read through 432 tonight. Not sure I have it in me to read the whole statute and regulations associated with this though. I don’t ship guns modern or antique.

Shipment of ANTIQUE (pre 1899) production revolver from New Jersey to Pennsylvania

Just to be clear, I’m not suggesting the above question would apply in New Jersey. NJ being an animal unto its own.
