    Concealing a full size pistol.

I also live in Texas and am about the same size as you. I carry a Glock 23 in an IWB holster SOB or kidney position and can conceal it under a tshirt or untucked pearl snap shirt. I bend at the knees when crouching and the printing is minimal to non-existent . Most people aren't looking for that...

why dozens of 1911 makers, and only 1 hi-power?

The Argentine military made a nice one you could get in the $3-400 range, and made them on Browning machinery but they stopped making them a while back. I had one and liked it. Kinda wish I hadn't traded it. There is a firearms company in India that makes one, but I don't think they export to...

    Large Bladed Weapon

What's your favorite? I'm thinking 10-12" blade or longer. Can you see any practical use for it as a self defense weapon in today's world?

    Baton Training?

Gonna second Hso's post. Eskrima, Kali, Arnis, what ever you want to call it, Filipino martial arts will give you excellent training in stick-type weapons. Blade and stick is what they do best. Good luck.

FMA : Eskrima, Arnis & Kali

Historically the Filipinos fought with a lot of blades such as the barong, parang, and ginunting as well.

FMA : Eskrima, Arnis & Kali

I've studied a number of martial arts over the years and love FMA. I started with Presas Arnis when I was learning Kajukenbo. One of the instructors, a JKD guy, had studied with the Presas family. I also picked up some Senkotiros, and some of the knife and stick combatives from Hock Hochhiem...

    where have the marlins gone?

I've seen a few used Marilin 336's in .30-30 at local gun stores and Cabala's, but none in .35 Remington save my own.

    Carbine Question

I like my M1 carbine. Mine's an Inland made in 1943. It's compact, light, little recoil...within it's performance limits, it's a good little rifle.

    What breed for home security?

I have a boxer/lab mix that looks "pit bull-like" and is generally quite sweet to all. However, he will bark at anything he feels needs barking at, and will not allow strangers to come into his "turf". Cornered a yard guy. Caused a workman to drop the knife he had pulled out to cut some carpet...

    Hunting round for Garand?

Did a search and couldn't find anything. I inherited an M1 a while back. Love the way it shoots and would like to use it to hunt at some point, but most commercial ammo is too hot for the rifle. Anyone know of a good round? Or is this a range toy only?

Pocket Knives-Who feels naked without one?

I live in Austin. I carry a knife everywhere I am legally allowed (Usually a Cold Steel AK-47 or a Vaquero Grande). Mainly as an everyday tool, but also for self defense if needed. Lots of people do here. It's no big deal. Perhaps, this lady was one of our many new arrivals from California?

    Training for gun-less defense

Kali has some very effective empty hand techniques too that aren't as well known. I've studied a number of martial arts over the years and kali is one of my favorites. Very well rounded-knife, stick, striking, grappling, etc. . That being said, I think the mindset and training methods of krav...
