Enjoy yourself. I did some experimenting several years ago with my 336 since I have tons of .30 cal bullets. Some shot better, some shot worse. I ended back up on the old reliable 150 and 170 gr RN bullets. It was a fun rabbit hole to go down though :)

Thanks for all of the great feedback. I really appreciate it. Seems like finding the 9mm setup for my Dillon SDB is going to be as hard as finding loaded ammo! I may just shoot 45ACP for a while. :)

I've loaded for many calibers but 9mm was always so cheap and plentiful, I never thought it was worth the investment. Well, current conditions are indicating that maybe I should be getting in touch with Dillon to get the SDB set up for 9mm. I have quite a few pistol powders in the cabinet...

I have all of those set up and 45 Colt too. 45 Colt is just a little too big for my fat fingers to easily load on the SDB. It works but it's easier on the 550.

Fantastic machine and if you found one in stock, you better snag it! Mine went over 60,000 rounds before Dillon rebuilt it for no charge.

Beaver skulls can wreak havoc on bullets. I pulled one out of a trap when I was a teenager that had slug embedded in its skull that had healed over. I've also seen 22 mags bounce off their heads.

Plunk test has been mentioned a couple of times. That's a good starting place.

I have used it successfully for several years. I put an old 30 cal bullet in the bottle to shake around as an agitator for when the lanolin settles in the bottom of the bottle.

I'm not an AR-10 guy...is the bolt supposed to lock back? If the factory loads do not lock the bolt back and your reloads do, I would be questioning the pressure of the reloads. If you had primer indicators at 43 and you are shooting at 42.5, you might be pushing it. Do the factory load...

Have you fired other bullets that don't tumble?
