    FMJ for Self Defense?

Well, if considering the two rounds for personal civilian defensive use only, then I'd pick the 230 grain .45 ACP FMJ due to it's better ability to penetrate straighter thru bone instead of being deflected by it ... and, in doing so, will actually lose enough energy to not be as much of a threat...

Gunsmith recommendations for work on Cimarron?

Exactly what I was thinking.....Good for Ryan Hoover, HCP Gunsmithing...

3rd gen glock 23 with light attached

The best chance for the setup to work will be with strong mag and recoil springs...and I'd recommend checking function with whatever ammo you intend to use it with or at least an equivalent reload....may help to invest in an aftermarket recoil spring and guide rod so you can use a 20 lb recoil...

3rd gen glock 23 with light attached

You've got the right mag springs for light attachment use so as long as they aren't weak you should be good to go...

3rd gen glock 23 with light attached

The compact pistol's magazines are suppose to use springs with 9 coils. The full size pistols are suppose to use an 11 coil mag spring when using a light attached. These are for full capacity magazines. I would designate a mag (or two) with a new spring that was to be used for defensive...

Glock Selection for HD & Carry

Well CTGunner, you say that the 19 feels the most comfortable in your hand and you shoot it as well as any of the others but you mostly shoot the 17 at the range and use the 26 for carry even though it's not the most comfortable your hand - I guess that would go for the 27 as well...and you...

    G17 Failure

MtnCreek, You're right...they'll go thru it and replace everything necessary for free...of course, the gas to get there will cost ya, but if you got the time and would like to see the place, it'd be interesting and they'll probably give you some Glock Goodies as well...I'm gonna make the trip...

    Kimber problem

Does this model have an external extractor? If so (and even if it's an internal) it may need cleaning...there could be some crud preventing it from opening as it should to slip around the rim...followed by mag springs or maybe just a good mag cleaning...and then maybe a recoil spring...best I...

Which auto pistol would you pick?

Well, in the polymer frame line the Glock takes the cake, if the 19 fits your hand, it's the one to go with...with you mentioning jeans and t-shirt wear, I take it that will mean sweat and Glocks only require minimal maintenance, and it's edges are rounded which aids in comfortable carry as...

    G17 Failure

That's one of the good things about your Glock, it will still function even with a broken part ... and it only cost a dollar or so to fix! ... scratch that, call Glock and they might just send you another for free!...yep.

    Costs: Hi-Power vs 1911

guyfromohio, I don't think your experience is the norm at all...the only problem I've ever experienced with a BHP was from some faulty underpowered ammunition (win white box). I've got 2 at present and including them, have owned 2 new, 2 imported old military, and 1 other used one and all...

How Many Carry a 1911 with FMJ Ammo?

Those loads sound awfully stout...are any of those loads controllable for fast followup shots? ... especially if shooting one handed? ...

    Costs: Hi-Power vs 1911

Yep, I don't like it either...but there ain't no where near the demand for BHP parts as there are for 1911 parts....look at all the 1911 makers and parts sellers...more competition = lower prices. On the bright side, BHP factory parts are tough and rarely need replacing and there are a few...
