courtgreene, thats what I did. When I work the bolt in the fire position (already cocked) it is much more difficult than when the safety is in the vertical position. I'm not sure I totally understand; does the firing pin have to engage the cocking cam even when the rifle is already cocked...
Thanks, I guess I didn't fully understand the mechanics of the safety but the bolt is still extremely hard to work after dry firing. I recently cleaned the bolt again in boiling water and greased it as suggested. Any other ideas? I'm at a loss because I've always heard how smooth the Mauser is...
Thanks, but I'm still really confused as to why the bolt is so smooth with the safety in the middle position but not when the safety is on fire. Is that normal?
I recently got a Yugoslavian M24/47 Mauser and the bolt is buttery smooth, but only when the safety is in the middle (vertical) position. When I flip the safety to the fire position the bolt becomes very hard to operate (worse than my Mosin). If I dry fire the rifle the bolt is almost impossible...
If your going to buy it buy it in bulk. I asked SOG the same question a week or two ago and it was $17 to ship 5 boxes but only $19 to ship 15 boxes. I just weighed one of the 15 round boxes and it weighs 15 ounces. You can email them asking about shipping as well. Their customer service was...
I would really love a Swedish Mauser but the lack of cheap 6.5x55 surplus is preventing that. Maybe later when I start reloading but I haven't started that yet. The Persian Mausers are a bit pricey for me right now too.
I'm getting a Mauser in the very near future and was wondering about the difference between Czechoslovakian and Yugoslavian Mausers. The ones in question are a Czechoslovakian late war "winter trigger guard" M98k or a Yugo M24/47.

I still like the NRA overall but it amazes me that they still keep that nut job Nugent around. He just perpetuates the stereotype that gun owners are all crazy rednecks. I agree, like him or not at least show the President of the United States some respect.
I play paintball and would play airsoft more often if there were places to play around here. Its a lot of fun and could be a useful training tool if you wanted it to be. As long as you leave the tips of the airsoft guns orange than I see no problem.
The club I go to does, they even have it in the vending machine I think. I've always thought that was a terrible idea but I've never seen someone shoot after drinking. The only time I've seen people drinking was after they were done shooting or just sitting around talking.
When I graduate college I plan on moving to a more gun friendly state (NY now). Fortunately if I end up going to college for what I am currently thinking of going for, most of the jobs are out west where the gun laws are better anyway. If NY bad better gun laws I might consider staying but I...
If you found this thumbing through the pages and it was not brought up on class, that itself could be more of a reflection on the attitude of the school toward guns. I seriously doubt that the information on firearms was a part of the schools choice to use that particular book. If they didn't...
