    Beretta issue for the 'smiths...

Marvelous, thank you, gentlemen. After a 6-day soak in Kroil, I just finished a good 1/2-hour scrub and voila! Magic! Rifling! I shouldn't shout too loudly yet as I can barely discern the lands and grooves. But my brush rotated as I cleaned, so I consider that a good sign. So no need for...

Best and worst experiences in a gun shop?

Worst was a local shop owner who essentially shoo-ed me out of his pawn and Gun shop when I brought in a MN 91/59. Told me to come back when I had a Garand to sell. Pretty sure I saw one of those 91/59 that sold on some site for close to $1K.

    Beretta issue for the 'smiths...

Good advice, I'm thinkin', Blue...thank you. I prefer CCI but back when the last big .22 shortage occurred I bought a bunch of target stuff...$$$...and it is waxed. So that may add to the barrel lining! Anyway, CCI has always been the most accurate in all my .22s past and present. The only other...

    Beretta issue for the 'smiths...

Thanks for the advice all. The barrel is soaking (3rd day now) while I work on a rifle stock. I am getting the hint that getting someone to make a barrel replacement might be a step too far. As I mentioned, the little thing is pretty accurate for having so short a barrel/sight radius and no...

    Beretta issue for the 'smiths...

Thank you, gentlemen. I will start the soak immediately...I never thought of that. Also, there is a hobby machinist nearby my rural town who made a rifle barrel for me to spec from a machine gun barrel. I guess I'll ask him about copying my barrel using a short section of bull barrel. More later....

    Beretta issue for the 'smiths...

...or the Beretta experts. Hello all. Here is a thing I seem to be making an issue out of, and I may not be the only one. I have a Beretta pistola Model 71 (I think) .22 semiauto. It was rescued from its fake suppressor and is a marvel of a little gun! So fun to shoot, and not half bad with...

Looking for a LEVER in .45 LC - your recommendations???

Hokkmike...Shooting 45 LC out of a casull has been done with impunity, much like .38s can be shot out of a .357. But the reverse, shooting Casull out of the Rossi 92 cannot be done without some case modification as the Casull case is too long for the Colt chamber. The Casull cases hold more than...

Looking for a LEVER in .45 LC - your recommendations???

Another vote for the Rossi 92. Mine was smooth and accurate. This very rifle is made to handle the 454 Casull. I shot everything from 200g to 415 grain slugs with it, and took a bull elk with the latter at 75 yards. LilGun is a super good powder for it. The bull killer had 1250fps using modified...

Swedish Mauser 6.5x55 load discrepancy in LEE data

Offthepaper, I did not see where you perhaps specified which Swedish Mauser you have. Is it a military M38, M96 or M94 or is it Husqvarna model, at least one of which is a large-ring Mauser. This might help you with what load you decide on. I am with Random 8 in that it would be hard to go wrong...

SAD News-Boy killed with NFA weapon-in Mass.

Thank you all reasonable responders. I now know one can say he's not mentally ill and buy a full auto. BATF does NOT catalog all hospitalizations for mental illness. I am truly shocked that one may buy a full auto. I held a C&R (some paperwork, perhaps not as much as is needed for other...

SAD News-Boy killed with NFA weapon-in Mass.

huh? It seems to me we are missing a main point, which is, the idiot who let his kid shoot this illegal weapon is able, with few serious questions asked, to buy a gun. There will always be idiots. There will continue to be kids killed until gun owners get serious about who gets to buy guns...

    Book on Mountain Men/Frontier Life?

Your mountain man book Hi Doc........ Did you ever find out the book and series you were looking for? I believe you were referring to one of my favorite authors, from Choteau, MT, A.B. Guthrie. He wrote The Big Sky, which is a tragic tail (aren't all mountain man tales tragic in one way or...
