Serious question:
Absolutely every other thing being equal, what does a crimp do?
Let's say I am reloading .357 mag. Same brass. Same primers. Same OAL. Same powder charge with the same powder. Same bullet type and weight. Shot from the same gun (tube fed lever action).
If I crimp, what...
I sometimes buy that stuff, but I always knock out the bullets, discard the powder (who knows WHAT it is), and salvage the cases and the bullets for my own reloading. ;-)
Thanks everyone for all the great information and replies! The most common question, which I should have mentioned in my original post: WHY even do this? And some of you called it!
I have a TON of .38spl brass, and not a lot of .357. I am thinking of loading this for a light .357 charge...
The general concensus seems to be "don't do it". Others seem to think it's OK, if certain parameters are met. The most common concern is someone accidentally loading one of these in a .38 revolver and blowing it up from the high pressure. This is NOT my concern, as I am loading for my lever...
I have some of my .300 WinMag bullet/load examples here: http://wallaceinfo.com/reloading.asp
My rig (Savage FP110) seems to like IMR 4350, and Nosler BT or Sierra matchKing bullets.
My most embarrassing moment in boot camp!
Air Force 1982. They issued "ear muff" style hearing protection.
That's part of the reason why I didn't hear their instructions.
They had us wearing the things at all times on the range - shooting or not.
So when the instruction was made to...
I didn't say the guns were for sale. Then I specifically said the guns were not for sale. He didn;t seem to take that into account.
Oh well.
As I said in the post to them... it's their board, they make their rules, and I will just vote with my feet.
no big loss really. THR looks like...
Wife's gun...
I'm blessed to have a wife that both understands the need for having a gun, and is willing to have one.
She picked out her own gun while we were at a gun show. SHe made a good choice, if you ask me. An Astra .40sw, double-stack, 14 round whopper that's patterned after a SIG...
Of all the guns I own, I'd have to say the most FUN is my Marlin lever action, .357 carbine. It's light. It's short. It's a dead straight shooter!
I'm gonna run out and join SASS right away! Ever seen these guys at the gun shows? They walk around decked out in full cowboy regalia. I'm...
Can anyone tell me what the fair market value of these two might be if I were to sell them in a private sale (not to a dealer?) Specifically I'm wondering if "matching pair" guns are worth more as a pair, or if they each would have their own individual value? I'm betting on the latter...
I visited another colt 1911 forum site, and got banned after posting one post.
Anyone had a similar experience? Here's what went down.
I posted pics of two 1911 colts I had, and asked people to comment on how much they might be worth if I were to sell them in a private sale (as opposed to...
You might be suprised...
You might be suprised. It happens more often than makes the news. But you are right. Interestingly, at least in my state, the numbers are about equal those shot (and actually hit) by criminals and those shot by accidental "friendly fire." In other words, both are...
How about both?
I suggest both.
And, ironically, I'm former State Bureau of Narcotics... It's hard to be a narc when you favour decriminalization. ;-) That prolly explains the "former" bit. heh
