    45-70 reloads

Trail Boss will be your best friend I've been loading .45-70 using 300gr and 405gr cast bullets for a few months now. Recoil is extremely light. Give it a try if you want reduced recoil loads. I would put the recoil in the neighborhood of a 20ga with light target loads.

    frame pin not even?

I have an H&R Buffalo Classic (built on a nearly identical frame) that also has a hinge pin that is not set evenly into the frame. My gun is brand new and arrived like this. I would keep an eye on it. If it is moving, you will notice soon enough. For what it's worth, I tried to tap mine...

Yet another 357 max question. "plinking" loads?

I just happened across this document from IMR Powder for Trail Boss minutes before reading this thread. http://www.imrpowder.com/PDF/Trail-Boss-data.pdf There is a really easy formula for using Trail Boss with ANY rifle or pistol caliber/bullet combo. Light loads in a .357 Max sound...

    50 yd rimfire benchrest help

I agree with the previous poster regarding canting the rifle causing shots to move as you track across the target. Another possible cause is not setting the rifle up the same way as you move. I have found it difficult to move across a rimfire BR target and be consistent. One cure is (once you...

What is the best .22 made today?

You can't go wrong with either the Ruger MkIII or Browning Buckmark. Owning both a MkII and a Buckmark, I am definitely a bigger fan of the Browning, but either option would be money well spent.

    .22 Semi Recommendations

I'm honestly not up on all the new buckmark models. I've had my 5.5 Gold Target for over 10 years. If I were you, I would look for one with adjustable sights, 5.5" or 7.5" barrel, and a weaver rail. Like the previous poster said, all they need is a trigger job. After the trigger is...

    .22 Semi Recommendations

Ruger Mark II or Mark III is always a good choice. Cheap, reliable, accurate and more available parts than you can shake a stick at. Another option (from an admitted Browning fanboy) is a used Browning Buckmark. IMO better build quality and out-of-the-box accuracy. I own one of each, and...

    New O/U

I second the previous poster's opinion to buy the fit not the brand. I was in an identical situation when I finished college. My gift from my parents was an O/U. I did a ton of research, made a list of features, compared what was available, etc. Long story short, I ended up with what was #5...

New clay thrower and women shotgunner's advice needed

Oakland County Sportsman's Club (Waterford/Clarkston) and Island Lake Shooting Range (Brighton) are other metro-detroit places to shoot. There are several others around as well but most all of them are gonna be a bit of a commute from the City of Detroit.
