Even Boyd's may not fit the steps you need. I just say, learn to do your own inletting and modification to get the stock that is availabe to fit. there is plenty of information and help out there if you need it. It really isn't that hard to do.

    Bed scope base?

If you bed the base to the receiver, you will see how much gap their is between their base and your receiver. If you dont see an improvement, or things get worse, you can always remove the bedding material with Epoxy remover paint stripper.

    H&R Hammerless .38 S&W

Thank you Jim, You are correct on the Hammerless model. The last one I rebuilt was a Hammer model made in 1907. I know it was that year, because it had half of the new style parts, and half of the old style parts. They changed models that year, and everything on that gun was original.

Mosin nagant 1891/30 drill and tape for ATI scope mount

If you are only using the two screws that come with the scope base, then I suggest that after the receiver is drilled and tapped, you glass bed the bottom side of the scope base to fit the receiver with JB Weld. Then even with Locktite, the mount has less chance to shake loose. Remember, that...

    H&R Hammerless .38 S&W

The coil spring fits inside the rear of the trigger guard. There should be just a small recess in the trigger guard for one coil to set into. You have to assemble the sear and spring into the rear trigger guard with a short Dummy Pin, ( a cut off round toothpick works really well ) the width of...

    Having Trouble Rust Bluing.

I Oil coat the parts after the 5 or 6th rusting and Boiling. After the last rusting, then I boil the parts and do not card them off. I apply 3 in one Oil liberally to all parts and let it cure at least over night. Then in the morning, you wipe off the oil and all the black crud that you...

    Converting 9.3x62 to 64?

Also, One thing that is forgoten when rechambering is the barrel twist rate. Just because it is the same bore, it doesn't mean you get or use the same rifling twist rate for both calibers.

    Converting 9.3x62 to 64?

It probably is Possible. But you will have to have the bolt face opened up, for the bigger case head. And I have no data that compares the neck length and the distance from the case head to shoulder angle. I would say it is cost prohibitive since you have to modify the bolt and probably have...

Model 93 Mauser - modified or not?

That gap between the handguard and the front of the rear sight means that it is a 1916 handguard, or someone lost the metal peice off the original handguard of a 1893. But it could mean you have a 1916 in 7.62x51 Cetme conversion. You cant tell by pictures of the furnature. Furnature is often...

    Rohm rg10 help needed

A co -worker asked me to check out and test fire one in 22 short before he gave it to his grandaughter. It was in like new shape, timing and lock up was perfect. But it Blew in Two on the fifth shot. I mean the whole front of the frame and barrel went sailing down range. I picked up the...

    Welding

I bought a small Gas Porta-Torch for my gunsmithing jobs. It works well for welding bolt handles and making parts like scope mounts. But I would NEVER Weld up a receiver with Gas Welding. Too much heat for too long, and you would really have to know what you are doing to do any welding of any...

    M-N accuarcy at 200/300 yds?

My 1942 Finn will keep them on a 24" gong @ 600 yards with my handload ammo with the open sight set on 800 meters. I never wanted to walk out that far to post a target, but it would be interesting to see what they actually group at that distance.

Worth working on? Sporterized m98 mauser w/ bad chamber.

When I do a chamber cast, I use a 1/4" aluminum rod about 3' long. I use it to push a patch over the end of the rod the same as if you were using the rod as a cleaning Jag. Push the rod and patch on the end all the way in untill it is just at the throat of the chamber just ahead of the...

Worth working on? Sporterized m98 mauser w/ bad chamber.

If you rebarrel the rifle with the 7mm Mag barrel, you will have to have the Bolt Face modified to fit the Magnum case head. You are going about things the correct way. Cast the chamber and see where the damage is. Have the barrel pulled, and then one thread cut off the shank to set the...

    Can my Mosin be fixed?

I would suggest buying yourself a Lee Classic Reloader for starters. You Know, the " Wack A Mole ' kit. Trust me, it has loaded some of the most accurate ammo I have ever shot out of my Mosin Nagants. That was what I first started with for that rifle, and Two Boxes of Norma ammo even though I...
