    .380 choices

I have a Bersa for range work and a P3AT for "social work". No problem with either. Once you carry a P3AT, the Bersa/CZ 83 size guns seem silly. Especially since you can get sidearms the same size in 9mm...... To each his own! Take care, Mike

    C&R handgun question

They are correct, you do not have to list the year but you DO have to log it in. The Ballesters are difficult to date as records are somewhat sketchy. A search with Google or on Gunboards.com may return a site with ballpark dates just for your info. Again, the feds don't need it or want it as...

    Sidesaddle installation

You can indeed do a trim job. As I recall, it's significant enough to give a person plenty of room to botch it. But if you take your time (after running the kids, dog, spouse/SO out of the room) and have it in a steady position, you should be fine. Take Care, Mike

    Sidesaddle installation

They work well, they must as Wilson Combat sell them and they don't sell junk. As has been said, there's no QD option, but it's not a big deal to put them on off. No harder than pulling the trigger assembly pins for a complete fieldstripping. Also, remember that you must use a police (i.e...

    A word about my Ishapore

Heat also works well and doesn't invole fumes. You can use a high heat hair dryer or a heat gun on low (don't leave the hea gun one spot or you get baked on cosmo). I've even had good luck with leaving the weapon in the sun during summer months or over a register in the winter. HTH, Mike

    Info on this gun?

I've had both the M9 and M40 Steyrs and have never had any issues with them. Many prefer them to other combat tupperware and the triangular sights are the quickest things I've ever used. I should say that my experience has been with the older M and S models NOT the new A1 series. HTH, Mike

Just picked up a HK91 clone

Mine did the same thing when I got it. Some Gun Scrubber followed up by a good lube fixed it. Just plain old crud in the mag release. Good to know that PTR's and H&K's can't have that problem! Thanks for the heads-up Onmilo! LOL!!!! Don't worry about the yahoos that will/have run down your...

5.56 Milsurp: Radway Green, IMG or LC?

Don't forget that you're talking about two different bullet weights here. If you are using optics, you'll want to standardize on one or the other unless you like rezeroing. The M855/SS109 (Radway Green, most of the LC around here) have 62gr steel core projectiles. The M193 (IMG, some LC/Federal)...

Got the Lee-Enfield bug...need some basic help.

Actually, bolt heads on both can be changed out. The trick is that 1) the ones for No.1 MkIII's weren't marked as to size so you have to get out the micrometer and 2) they are harder to find. Get any of them - No.1 Mk.III, No.4 Mk.1, No.4 Mk.2, 2A, 2A1 - they're all great and won't be around...

    Makarovs...Bulgarian VS. Hungarian...???

Think of it this way: It's like shooting .40 Smith & Wesson out of a Glock. Just because the ammo says Smith & Wesson doesn't make the weapon a Smith & Wesson. Here are the 5 countries that produced a Makarov: * Russia - military and commercial * East Germany - The Ernst Thaelman...

    Kel tec 32

I never had any issues until one day I found that both the mag in the gun AND the mag in my pocket had suffered rim lock. I carried HP's and had seen the warnings on KTOG and Kel-Tec Range but never thought it would happen to me. The mags were jammed so badly that I had to disassemble them to...

    Mosin 91/30 range question

Split cases are fairly common with most of the milsurp. Albanian is especially bad. Watch the primers for pressure signs. BTW, if you want to use the rifle for things where the bayo would be inappropriate, may I suggest replacing the rear sight with a Mojo peep or the front with a taller blade...

    .308 Good or Bad?

Excellent round! As has been said, it will do it all. I have used my issued DM rifle in the woods for deer and the next day hunted 'chucks with a friend. Never had to use the rifle for the purpose it was bought for, but those who have had to fire a shot in anger say the .308 will "Git 'er Done"...

FAL: What number setting do you put the gas valve on?

Your settings will vary with different rifles and different ammo even in the same rifle. Generally 3.5 or 4 is considered good. Anything less often signifies a gas leak. The lower the number the more gas is used for the system. Irregardless of the numbers, you can tell when YOUR rifle is dialed...

What do you CCW in .40 cal?

Steyr S40 in a Comp-Tac Gurkha. Carries easier than my old Glock 27 and is quicker to get on target. Glad to see other Steyr owners here! It sounds like we all agree, the S40 is well worth the effort to find! Take Care, Mike
