    Is the .22 Short dying?

Browning has the .22 Auto rifle chambered for .22 Short in the catalog this year. They've made limited runs of them in the past; I think the last time was '02 or '03.

Ghost Rings with scope.. please explain : 0

Usually those setups use quick-detach scope rings, so if you have trouble with the scope (or if you just want to use the sights instead) you can quickly remove it and use the iron sights. With the scope mounted forward of the receiver on a scout mount like that, you're going to need a scope...

    WSSM Cartridge?

If I remember correctly, there are supposed to be gains in powder burn consistency and efficiency (that is, more velocity with less powder) with a short, fat case as opposed to a long skinny one. In addition a shorter overall length lets you use a shorter, more rigid receiver which should...

Thinking about an AR 6.8 SPC or 300 AAC upper...

Noveske Rogue Hunter? No fluting, but the 6.8 Rogue Hunter is already a pretty lightweight setup.

    Carrying a 1911 .45 With 8+1

In addition to carrying a 1911 loaded 8+1, I've done quite a few drills on the range that end with a tactical reload - removing the partially spent mag and replacing it with a fresh one. This results in 8+1 since there's a round left in the chamber, and then I continue with more drills. I've...

    Initially: Carry handle, or BUIS?

I'm not sure what you're getting at here - did I come across as recommending cutting down a fixed handle A2-style upper? I was referring to cutting down a removable carry handle with the desired result being something like what Quentin posted. The OP didn't specifically say he was looking at a...

    Initially: Carry handle, or BUIS?

Agree completely with Mr. Clean. Lots of guys cut down carry handles they already have in order to get an optic-compatible BUIS for no cost.

    Questions about Steel cased ammo

My AR (a BCM upper on a Fulton Armory lower) runs fine with cheap Tula steel-cased ammo. The Hornady steel-cased "training" ammo is good stuff - I put 1100+ rounds of that ammo through the gun over the course of a 3-day class with no ammo-related issues at all.

Tell me I'm not the first to think of this...

In either rifle, .260 AI with a 123 Scenar loaded long (or even a 6.5-06... heck, 6.5-284) would seem to me a better use of the long magazine. Why chamber a long-action rifle for an AR-15 length cartridge?

    Help with Small Rimfire scopes

You might consider one of the micro-sized red dots like the Burris Fastfire. If you have someone who can make a custom mount for you, you might be able to get it mounted low enough that you can see the iron sights through the window of the optic. Although, I think a dot sight would work OK for...

AR-15 Noob in need of advice: Bushmaster 16" HBAR M4 Dissipator

On a 16" barrel the rifle-length gas system probably won't function properly. This is why the carbine and mid-length gas systems exist in the first place. You need about 17-18" of barrel in order for the rifle-length gas system to run right. On a 20" barrel there is no reason to use...

AR-15 Noob in need of advice: Bushmaster 16" HBAR M4 Dissipator

This is what a Dissipator looks like under the handguards: There are two gas blocks on a rifle like this. The one to the rear is the real gas block, which has the gas port underneath it. The front one exists solely to support the front sight. In this case the rear gas block is in the...

    Help with Small Rimfire scopes

How about something like this Weaver K2.5? It's probably about as small as a scope with a 1" tube can be until you get into the red dot types.

    ar-15 in 250 savage

You could get an upper from Bushmaster but it looks like their offerings are limited to .223/5.56, 6.8SPC, and .450 Bushmaster. If you want something like 6.5 Grendel or .204 Ruger or 9mm Luger, you'll have to get it from someone else. There are literally dozens of other chamberings for ARs...

    ar-15 in 250 savage

I assume you mean 12MOA of drop at 400 yards. .308 Win drops about 2 feet at 400 yards when zeroed 2" high at 100. The AR-10 in .308 Win is so close to this that you might as well just get one of those. Your specifications seem centered around .30 caliber and there's no .30 cal cartridge...
